“Now, you make a valid point. No harm, no foul. Let’s play ball.” My tone was a little more chipper because of my full belly and the coffee flooding through my system.
Bones’ phone was on the table and the vibration caused me to look over to it.
He frowned when he saw the number. “Hawk, what’s up, man? Early call from you,” Bones said. “What? They were where? Why and how? We got them away from there last time. Didn’t the cameras pick them up in the parking lot?”
I gently set down my fork. I was all ears.
“Uh-huh… three of them. Little bitches.” Bones sighed into the phone. “Alright, leave me with it and we’ll have to figure out a game plan.” He shook his head as he nodded at what Hawk said over the cell. “Okay, see you later man.” He pressed the end call button and looked at me. “We got more trouble from a dealer showing up in the parking lot of the casino. They swept in and swept out. They were bikers.”
“Devil Riders,” we both declared simultaneously.
“I want to protect Ryan,” he said. “Smoke’s kid too. We got Charlie as a prospect. I want something different than what the club used to be. We were on guard the whole time. That’s no way to live. Nobody wants the cops breathing down their necks if there’s a problem.”
“I hear you.” I nodded. “We’re going to clean it up. Trust me. I still want to run this plate situation by Mia before I take it to the cops. I want her opinion on account of me just getting off from being accused of theft.” As soon as I uttered her name, I felt my temperature rise. I wanted her bad.
“Can you talk to Mia again?” Bones asked. “We could definitely use her help on the next steps. If not, I can take the plate details down there.”
Mia. The mystery package I wanted to unravel. This would be the perfect excuse to see her again.
