Gunner’s face looked stoic with the hint of skepticism.

I knew in the end he would be on board, though. He was a loyal one.

“Bear, you haven’t said anything. What do you think?” Bones asked him.

“I think it’s our best idea yet. It’s a chance to stick it to those Devil Riders. Let them know this is how you run a club,” he said in a gruff voice. Bear was a prideful man.

We all knew for a fact he cared deeply about the club, like we all did.

“Glad you agree,” Bones said. “Guys, if nobody else has anything else to add we can leave it there. Numbers will report back and let us know about legal representation.”

I grinned as the chairs scraped, and they all got up to leave.

I stretched my back as I got up.

Ink approached me on the way out of the meeting room. “I saw that grin on your face when everyone agreed. You got something going with Mia?”

“Nah. I’m happy the club is moving right is all.” I wanted to keep my feelings under the hood for now. I had no idea how Mia felt about me in that sense. Outside opinions weren’t something I needed for now.

“You’re not fooling me, buddy, but hey, it’s cool.” Ink winked. “I got some stuff to do, otherwise I would stay and play pool with you guys.”

“I’m out. I’m going to run these numbers. Besides, I don’t want Chalk feeling butt-hurt when I beat him again.”

“I heard my name. What?” Chalk slid back into the conversation as we walked out front.

“Don’t worry about it,” I said with a light chuckle.

As I moved to the door, Bones walked in step with me. “I’ll hear from you later, right?”

“Yep. I got you. I’m pretty sure of what we can offer, but I’ll get back to you.”

“Cool. Check you later.”

I let the Mississippi sun shine its glory on my face as I mounted my bike. The day was about to get a lot more interesting, and I couldn’t wait to call Mia.
