Damn it, she was beautiful. I had never seen a woman blush so attractively. I watched her hungrily, like some horny teenage boy.

“How did you sleep, Anastasia?” Nikolai asked her instead and her blush deepened further.

“Um, good. You?”

“Pretty good. Sergei kept snoring though. Did you have a similar problem?”

Her quiet laugh echoed in the hallway. “I don’t think so. I was dead to the world.” Then she turned her eyes to me and smiled mischievously. “Unless I snored. Did I?”

“No, although I’m sure your snore is cute too.”

“Okay,” Nikolai rolled his eyes. “I don’t need to hear that stuff.”

“I’ll go check on Sergei,” she commented as she walked away from us. “Want me to attempt fixing breakfast afterwards?”

“Attempt?” I asked.

She stopped and glanced behind at us with an embarrassed expression on her face. “I don’t know how to cook.”

“Damn, woman.” Nikolai muttered, and she managed to look even more embarrassed. She grew up with cooks and maids so she probably never had a need to learn to cook.

“I’ll teach you.” I told her and her smile was worth it. I would have to find many things to teach her, just to earn those smiles from her.

What thefuckwas wrong with me? Women swooned over me, not the other way around. But apparently my brain didn’t care, nor did my cock. Both were zeroed in on her shoutingmine.

“Thank you.” She beamed as she left us behind to go check on Sergei.

I was well past the point of being completely under her spell.

Chapter Twenty

Anastasia

As soon as I entered Sergei’s room and saw him, an enormous relief swept through me.

“Good morning, Sergei,” I greeted him. “You look so much better than yesterday.” His brown eyes met mine and there was sorrow in them… sorrow and something else. “Are you okay?”

His coloring was good so it couldn’t be that he was sick. But just like that, it was gone and he smiled carelessly. “I couldn’t be better. Thanks to you.”

“You were just lucky,” I told him. “Can I check your vitals?”

“Of course.” He knew the drill, which told me it wasn’t the first time he’d been through this.

I ran a quick check on his vitals, then checked the wound. There was no infection, no fever, although he was still weak and hurt from the bullet wound. Overall, he was recovering well. I clinically eyed his chest and his back, noting a few old scars.

Like Dimitry, he had tattoos covering his arms, a tattoo of a cross in the middle of his chest and a very unusual one over his heart. It looked like a sacred heart with a rose. Sergei was an extremely handsome man. Totally swoon worthy, as Scarlett and I would often joke when seeing good looking men. But my heart didn’t even skip a beat when looking at him.

He certainly looked like he had been in many fights. One scar in particular looked like it must have hurt when he got it, and only a few months old.

“Knife?” I asked him. He followed my eyes and nodded.

“Looks worse than it was,” he muttered.

“Well, you look good,” I told him. “Want to stay in the bed or watch me suffer through my first lesson in cooking?”

He smiled. “You don’t know how to cook?”

I shook my head with a sheepish smile.
