I freeze as he parts my thighs, trailing fire along my skin. Soft fingers slip along the folds of my pussy, gathering the wetness that’s already dripping from my slit. Just the touch of his fingers there feels too good to handle. And when his tongue flicks out, circling my clit…
My head tips back as I gasp, gripping the sheets so hard my knuckles turn white. “Oh, God…”
He laughs, a deep rumbling sound that reverberates through my core. “Not yet, tesorina.” His tongue runs along my folds, lapping at my arousal before dipping inside, and it’s all I can do not to cry out. He licks me again and again until I’m almost to the edge, the rough feeling of his beard battling with the soft wetness of his tongue driving me insane.
“Please.” My back arches, fingers curling in his hair, trying to draw him closer. The duvet falls from his shoulders, giving me the perfect view of him between my thighs. “Please, Killian—”
He pulls away, gray eyes capturing mine. “Beg for it.”
“I—” My lips part, but nothing comes out.
“Beg for it, tesorina.”
I jolt awake, the desire burning through me all too real. Gasping, I try to catch my breath and erase the dream. There was no way in hell I’d dreamed of that. Not with Killian. Never with him. Trying to shake the last dregs of sleep, I snatch my phone from the bedside table, checking the time.
“Shit.” All thoughts of the dream vanish as I read the numbers on the screen. My legs tangle in the covers in my mad dash for the bathroom. I’m late. So, so late. I’m supposed to meet Sadie and Kimmy at the cafe in about five minutes, and I’m not even close to getting ready.
Yanking a pullover and leggings from my closet, I quickly throw them on. There’s no time to do my makeup, but since it’s just the girls, I don’t really need to. Brushing my hair up into a ponytail, I grab my phone and purse before running out the door.
I try to forget the dream as I pull out of the building’s parking garage, trying to forget the desire that had felt all too real. This alliance must have made me lose my mind. It’s the only plausible explanation I can think of as to why I would ever dream about Killian Scarano.
But despite how hard I try, I can’t get the dream out of my head.
Flashes of it come to me as I drive, the way his touch felt against my skin, the sight of him between my legs. My cheeks burn with heat as the car behind me honks at the green light, my mind so out of it I hadn’t even noticed it had changed from red. Irritated, I turn on my Bluetooth, blasting my music to drown out the memories until I finally reach the cafe.
I hurry into the coffee shop, only a tad bit late. It’s one of our favorite places to catch up, a place we’d often go after school way back in the day. The cafe is small but homey, with potted plants in the corner, huge windows to let in a lot of light, and the most perfect white chocolate macchiato I’ve ever had. The floors were white oak, the booths and reading chairs brown leather, and one corner had been turned into a small bookshop. Paintings of coffee and books hung from the moss-colored walls.
Kimmy and Sadie are already waiting for me at the back in our usual booth, steaming cups of coffee set before them. Kimmy’s hunched over, obnoxiously large black sunglasses perched on her nose as she stares down into her cup morosely. It’s nine in the morning, but it’s still too early for Kimmy to function. Beside her, Sadie perks up at the sight of me, already smiling.
“I ordered your usual,” she tells me, sliding my own cup across the table. I slip into the empty seat across from them.
“Thank God,” I take a sip, closing my eyes as the first dose of caffeine hits me. “I had an eight a.m. this morning and woke up late.”
Kimmy glances up at that, smirking. “Were you late because of a certain someone…?”
My nose wrinkles. “Ew. No.”
“Ew?” Kimmy looks horrified. “Um, Cara, I don’t know if you need to get your vision checked or something, but your potential husband is stupidly hot.” My cheeks burn as I stare down at my coffee.
“So what’s he even like?” Sadie asks more tactfully.
“I don’t know,” I mutter. “Cocky? Obnoxious? A waste of my time?”
“But hot,” Kimmy reminds me. "I mean, come on, Cara. You can’t seriously tell me you haven’t noticed the whole Superman look going on.”
I tug at my lower lip, avoiding her eyes. I couldn’t deny my attraction to Killian. And just thinking about the way he’d touched me at dinner sends sparks down my spine. But is that really enough to cancel out everything else I know about him?
Sadie’s brow furrows. “If you don’t like him, why don’t you just tell your dad you’re not interested?”
“I can’t.” I sigh, taking another long sip of coffee to help me get through their questions. “I barely know the guy anyway.”
“Why haven’t you looked him up?” Kimmy’s finger swirls around the top of her coffee mug. She says it so casually, but her words hit me like a brick wall.
“I didn’t even think about that,” I say slowly. “I’ve been…distracted. Besides, I don’t think he’d even have anything online that I don’t already know. He used to be a—” I try to find the right words, “a big party guy.”
“Then there should be lots about him online,” Kimmy replies excitedly. She pulls out her phone, looking energetic now.
“Oh, this is like high school all over again,” Sadie says mischievously.
