“Are you hurt?”
“Just my pride,” she muttered. “I’m fine. Mateo–”
“I saw Mateo,” I grunted. “He’s working for the Snake?”
We paused, both of us darting up and letting off a few shots. Out of the corner of my eye, I caught Killian taking down another agent. Holstering his handgun, he picked up the rifle, stroking it gently before getting back into the game.
“Mateo’s not working for the Snake,” Sienna snarled. “Heisthe Snake.”
My lips curled.I fucking knew it.“And Gemma?” I asked as gently as possible.
Sienna froze, anger and betrayal flashing across her face. “She was working for her father the whole time.”
“Fuck.” I knew that had probably been worse for her than Mateo’s betrayal. “We need to get out of here.”
She followed me over the crates, Killian covering our asses. Bullets flew as man after man went down. We cut our way through to the doors, darting through the shipping containers. I didn’t see David as the men around us fell. I assumed the coward had already fled after realizing Killian and I had arrived. Sienna’s hands shot up, and I turned, watching as the last man tumbled to the ground. She let the barrel drop. The warehouse fell silent.
Killian met us at the doors, exhilaration gleaming in his eyes. “Fucking hell.”
Sienna’s chest heaved as her eyes scanned the lot before turning to me.“Mateo—”
“We know,” I said, cutting her off. “He’s got a yacht out on the docks. I know about David, too.”
“Shit,” she swore. The rest of my words must have hit her then. “Wait, how did you know about David?”
I glowered. “The Arco brothers looked into him for me.”
“If you tell me I told you so, I will literally shoot you right now,” she replied darkly. Sienna glanced towards the docks. “Mateo’s probably long gone by now.” She swore.
“Or not.” Killian's lips slipped into a devious smile. Fishing a small, black cylinder with wires from his pocket, he tossed it to me. “Kind of hard to go anywhere without the damn starter.”
“I could kiss you,” I told him, fisting the starter in my hand.
“Please don’t. Sienna might get jealous.”
“How the hell did you get this?” Sienna snatched the starter from my hand.
“Followed them onto the ship. They headed down, and I headed up. Nearly got caught, but it was worth it.” Killian smirked.
I turned towards her, brushing the hair from her face. “Are you ready to end this?”
Fire flashed in her eyes. “Ready when you are.”

SIENNA
We raced towards the docks. I could see the ship just ahead bobbing on the water. The lights along the deck were on, but the engine was silent. Killian was a genius for swiping the starter. Without his getaway boat, Mateo was stuck here. There was no way for him to escape by water, at least.
He’d be forced to finally face me. And if Gemma was with him…
A part of me still didn’t want to believe that they were capable of doing this. There had been a reason why Mateo tasked David and the Aegis agents to take me out rather than just doing it himself. There was a reason why Gemma hadn’t been there. Maybe because they couldn’t do it. Maybe there was a part of them that still considered me family. I couldn’t dwell on that, though. I had to believe that they’d always been traitors, that there wasn’t an ounce of good left in them. Otherwise, it would make it a hell of a lot harder for me to kill them both.
I didn’t even know if I could do it. I tried not to think about what I would have to do once we finally caught up with them. This was the man who had practically been my uncle. The man who had been at my baptism. My godfather. My rock when my father had died. And Gemma…I’d known Gemma since we were in diapers. She was my sister. She was all I had all those years. The betrayal cut deep, digging into my heart until I was sure there was nothing left. The despair threatened to swallow me whole.
But I also felt angry. Furious. We had taken Mateo in like one of our own. He’d been my father’s best friend. His second in command even when he wasn’t full Italian. Even when the Sicilian families disapproved of his promotion. My father stood by him and defended him. Saved his life a few times when they were younger.
And Gemma? I’d been right there by her side through every fucking thing; when her mother had died, when a boyfriend broke her heart, when she’d been sick. I’d cared for her as if she were my actual sister.
