“You liked that, didn’t you?” he accused. My only answer was to moan and grind into his hand as he slid two fingers into my core. He wasn’t gentle as he fucked me with his fingers and stretched me for his cock. By the time he pulled away and lined himself up, I was practically panting for him.
“Fuck me, Kane,” I demanded for a second time. “Now.” That was all the encouragement he needed before he slammed his hips forward. My cry was almost a scream because it felt like he’d split me in two. He paused, teasing kisses over my spine while my body readjusted to him.
The moment I started to push back, he went almost feral. His hands dug into the flesh of my hips, holding me still as he pounded into me. His chest rumbled, the sound pulsing through me until I felt like it alone would make me explode. One hand snaked around, teasing over my clit, and it didn’t take much before I was coming hard, my pussy clenching around him.
“Fuck, Farren,” he growled. “You feel so fucking good.”
His fingers continued to tease me through the aftershocks, turning one orgasm into two. I was shaking, glad he was holding me up at this point.
Kane’s knot swelled, pushing my sensitive body even further until I thought I might die from the intensity of it all.But what a fucking way to go.
As his knot locked us together, something fell into place between us. Sure, I intellectually knew we were mates, but this was something deeper, a connection that we had lost thanks to my attack. Our souls had found a way to reconnect.
ChapterSeven
Farren
Levi had insisted that I meet him in the dining hall after the dinner crowd had dispersed. All I got from him was that he was going to cook for me. He’d even made sure I had a snack to tide me over. The level of thoughtfulness that man displayed blew me away.
The fact that they were setting up all these dates to spoil and get to know me was the exact reason I was giving them a chance. If I ever regained my old memories, the new ones we were building now would just add to what I could look back on and smile at in the coming days.
The halls of Mountain View were empty as I walked out of my suite and through the lobby. There were usually a few dragons milling around or somebody coming and going from town, but tonight it was fairly quiet. I hated that my home seemed to have lost its heart. From all the stories I’d heard, things were lively before I got attacked, and now I felt like I’d killed the brood’s spark. I’d kill to have the chaotic activity of our people living without fear or hesitation.
The moment I pushed open the doors to the dining hall, an amazing smell hit me. My stomach growled in answer. The door slammed closed behind me, Levi was poking his head through the serving window.
“There you are. I'm not quite done yet if you want to come back here and sit with me?” he called out. Butterflies flared in my stomach as I moved forward, anxious to get closer to him. The need to be around them had sparked the moment I decided to accept them again, and every interaction with them just fanned the flame higher. I didn’t just want them. Icravedthem—their presence, their words, their touch, all of it. But I was glad that they were taking things slower.
What did you cook?” I asked as I rounded through the doors to the kitchen. He ran over and brushed a quick kiss across my lips before returning to the large grill to flip the steaks.
He chuckled, the sound a little nervous. “I wasn't sure what you'd feel like, so I may have gone a little bit overboard,” he admitted. “In case you were starving, I made an appetizer. I remember you raving about spinach artichoke dip once, so I figured that out. Then the steaks, of course, along with some veggies and homemade rolls.” He listed a few more things, and I couldn't help but bite back a laugh. He was so damn cute.
Levi just had this energy about him. He was boisterous and excitable, the golden retriever boyfriend. You couldn’t be upset around him. It was a nice contrast to the gruff possessiveness that was Kane. Then there was Niko. He was the quiet, calm, collected one. I didn't know him as well as the others yet, but him going back to face his demons said volumes about his character and how invested he was in us.
Tomorrow, I had a date with Avi. He’d said he’d be by after breakfast but had given me little else to go on. I was excited because out of the three of them, he’d been the most quiet, giving me the time I needed to adjust and process. He pretended to not have a large role in the group, but in reality, his was the most important. With only a touch, he calmed the others and even me. He was gentle in words and compassionate, easily figuring out what someone needed and making them comfortable.
Levi was hilarious to watch as he cooked. He was chaotic in the best way, jumping from station to station, doing the job of a full kitchen staff. The entire time he did it, he was shaking his ass to whatever song blared from his speakers. I had no clue what he was listening to, yet it almost felt familiar, like I should know it but didn’t. Then again, I questioned everything these days. It could just be a newer song that I didn’t remember.
“All done!” he announced.
“Can I do anything to help?” I asked.
“Nope. I’m all set if you want to head for the table.”
I glanced around. “Where are we eating?”
“There’s a table ready for us out there,” he said, pointing to the dining hall. My eyebrows raised in surprise. I didn’t remember seeing anything coming in, but with the show he’d put on, I wasn’t all that shocked I’d missed it. Walking back out to the dining room, I grinned at the adorable setup. He’d put a white linen tablecloth over one of the circular tables before setting it with lit candles, a single rose in a vase, and silver plates.
As I walked toward the table, a bit of nostalgia hit me. I couldn't place the memory that danced on the edges of my mind. It was fleeting, and I couldn’t quite grasp it.
“You okay?” I nearly jumped out of my skin at how close his voice was. I was so caught up in my mind that I didn't hear him coming in.
“Sorry. Yeah, it was just another hint of a memory, but I can't place it. Like something happened here, but I don’t know what,” I explained in frustration.
“You remember that moment where we kissed on the roof?” I nodded and glanced out the window. An image of snow flashed in my mind, making the feeling more intense. “Well, we were eating here before that happened. I saw the snow and got excited because we didn’t get that much back home, and you didn’t hesitate to grab my hand and pull me up to the roof. Then we shared our first kiss.” He finished his story by pulling me in and pressing his lips to mine. I melted into him, my hands wrapping around his neck as I gave myself over to the feelings he brought up in me. Levi teased his tongue over my lips, and I parted them for him. Our tongues danced together as his hand held me close. When he broke away, I was left dazed and wanting more, but he simply pulled my chair out. I sat without complaint because that food was too enticing to ignore.
I waited patiently, feeling a bit like royalty, as he ran back and forth with plates and our appetizer. It looked like way too much food for two people, but I knew Levi and I wouldn’t have a problem taking care of it. Dragons didn’t play when it came to food. Just thinking that had my chest clenching, but I shoved that stupid negative voice away. Because yes, I was still a dragon. It wasn’t just the other soul inside me that made me a dragon; it was about my strength and determination and the fiery side of me that existed with or without scales and claws. That asshole didn’t get to take my whole fucking identity like he’d tried to take my life.
Levi filled my plate, and I cut off a piece of steak before popping it into my mouth. He’d cooked it to juicy, well-seasoned perfection, and I groaned in approval.
