Declan smiled. “It’s because he has to survive so he can kill off her friends, duh.”

“It’s stupid,” Bree said.

“This entire series is stupid.”

He laughed when she leaned from his chest and narrowed her eyes at him. “Are you complaining about my choice? You pick something next time. Let’s see if you can do better.”

Next time.

Bree was thinking about next time.

“Why do you have that goofy smile on your face?”

“Because you make me smile, Bree. You always have.”

Her face turned red and he reluctantly let her go when she sat up straight again and eyed him warily.

“It’s true. You make me happy.”

Bree finally nodded and said, “Ditto.”

He palmed her cheeks and leaned in. Their noses almost brushed.

“I’ve missed you. And not only as a friend.”

Bree bit her bottom lip, and he fought the urge to run his thumb over her plump lip.

“Let’s do this, Bree. I know I’ve been a stupid fuck. But I’m ready now.” His throat went dry while waiting on her response. This was it.

Bree sighed and let go of her lip. “I want to try, Dec. I really do. It’s why I texted you tonight. But we need to go slow. I’m still scared that in a few months from now, you’ll change your mind.”

He cocked his head and furrowed his brows. “Why would I do that?”

“Because it took you this long… I don’t know why you’re suddenly interested now.”

The wobble in her voice stabbed his heart. He’d caused her pain by rejecting her earlier. He needed to earn back her trust. How he would do that, he didn’t know just yet. But he’d get there.

“I know we need to take this slow. But I promise you; you’re it for me, Bree. I’ll never let anything come between us ever again.”

Bree nodded and said, “I’m going to refill our drinks. Can you hit pause?”

“Sure.”

As he locked his eyes on her fine swaying arse, it hit him she hadn’t respond to his last words. He walked into the kitchen and took his time checking Bree out. Hmmm, her curves were only getting better and better. Seeing her large tits sway in her black dress as she reached for a cabinet made him adjust his pants.

Bree caught his movement and giggled. “That’s a first.”

His upper lip tugged up, “Nah, it’s only the first time I’ve let you caught me.”

Her eyes went wide, and she swiftly turned and pulled the fridge open.

He took the soda out of her hand, and she closed the door. He placed the drink on the counter and took her hand in his. He brought her open palm against his erection.

“This… you feel this?”

Bree swallowed and nodded. Her wide azure eyes locked on his.

“Only because of you. I feel like a damn teenager again.”
