“Kay-Kay, I know you don’t want to ask for help. Fuck, I know the feeling.” Calum chuckled. “But I think it’s smart to let these guys help you.”
“Enough of this Debbie Downer shit. You need help. We want to help. That’s settled. Case closed. So, I’m getting us all shots, and no one is looking worried, sad, or angry any longer, okay?”
Duncan couldn’t help but chuckle at Ronan’s logic. Out of all of his brothers, Ronan was the most straightforward, no-holding-back asshole of the bunch. He figured that Kayla could take offense by his attitude, but she surprised him by saying, “Okay, so it’s Debbie Downing Shots instead?”
“You got it, sis-to-be.” Ronan winked at her before strolling to the bar. No doubt he’d return with the vilest shots he could possibly order from Brennan.
Duncan watched Ronan talking to Tori, and he was reminded of what a lucky guy he was. Who knew that having Kayla sitting here in Lucky, bantering with his family, would turn out to be a huge aphrodisiac? He whispered in Kayla’s ear, “Stay with me tonight.”
She instantly turned her head, and the smile she gave him was blinding. He swallowed and knew in that moment that he couldn’t wait any longer to make her his. He stood from his chair, and Kayla took his outstretched hand as he pulled her upright.
“Gentlemen, my girl and I are leaving. Calum, you’ve got Kayla’s place to yourself tonight,” Duncan declared. Calum looked over from Duncan to Kayla and nodded once before taking a gulp from his beer.
“It was nice meeting you, Declan. See you Monday, Donovan,” Kayla said as she walked over to Calum and kissed his cheek. “Talk to you later, brother dearest.”
“Love you, Kay-Kay. Talk to you tomorrow.”
Exiting Lucky, Duncan immediately took a blushing Kayla into his arms, and she gazed into his eyes. He placed his palms on her reddened cheeks and kissed her awaiting lips. When she opened up for him, he took his time exploring her mouth with his tongue. She had her arms around his waist and slid one hand into his back pocket.
She grabbed his ass, and he groaned. “Come on, wildflower. It’s time to make you mine.”
He had never been more annoyed with a car ride. He wanted her in his bed, and even a five-minute drive was too long.
Chuckling at him, she said, “You know, scolding other drivers isn’t going to get us there sooner.”
Duncan growled, “Fuck, I want you. Look at you. I want you under me. I need—no, I don’t want to talk about it. I might explode.”
Kayla was now guffawing, and the sound made him smile. She had such a sincere, heartwarming laugh, and he couldn’t get enough of it.
“Mmm, I can’t wait.” She had the nerve to taunt him while knowing he was so worked up. She winked at him, and he put his hand over his face and let his fingers slide down as he groaned.
“I’m gonna spank your ass if you continue to test me, Kayla. Sitting there all winking and shit.”
The smile dropped from her face as she studied him wide-eyed, and he knew he was on to something. They hit a red light, and when he stopped the truck, he looked over and noticed Kayla swallowing and crossing her legs.
“Yeah, that’s right. I think my wildflower wants it. Would love me to slap that ass and then kiss it and make it all better. Then I’ll fuck you hard after, having you screaming my name.”
“Duncan....” Kayla shifted in her seat again as a car behind them interrupted by honking at them.
“Fuck, you’re beautiful,” he said as he shook his head.
When they arrived at his house, he parked in his driveway and jumped out of the car first. He held her door for her as she stepped out of the car. Kayla smiled and thanked him.
“No problem, beautiful.”
“Did I get a new nickname and lose the wildflower badge somewhere on the way?” she joked.
He smiled and winked at her before letting go of her hand and unlocking his front door. Kayla’s eyes grew big as she entered his house, and she said, “Wow, not what I expected, Dunc.”
“What did you expect?” He was curious as to what she meant.
“I figured you would have a bachelor pad. You know, the black leather couch, one single plant somewhere in the corner that needs to be watered, a giant TV screen... ah, check.” She giggled at seeing his big-ass flat-screen hanging next to the fireplace.
He had all the walls in his house plastered and painted in a warm sandy tone, but he left some old bricks showing for an older, homier feel. He had a warm-colored wooden floor and a big sofa where you could fall asleep while a baseball game was on in the background.
The fireplace was the centerpiece of the living room, and the big fluffy rug in front of it had always been one of his favorite items. He’d had several girls in his home on that rug for some fun, but now he only wanted Kayla in front of the fireplace. Perhaps he should get a couple of new things and throw some stuff out. The thought of the parade of pussy that he’d let into his home over the years was becoming a real downer.
“I don’t like seeing that frown on your face, Duncan. What’s wrong?”
