There was no way that his friends didn’t hear her just now. Another wave of excitement crashed over her, taking her by surprise.

“I can’t wait to fuck you properly, Adi.”

A sigh escaped her lips. “Me neither…”

CHAPTER TWELVE

Jack slammeda rock on top of the final bamboo pole, glad that they were about to finish building their shelter.

“That’s it, Jack. I think we’ve got it!” Zane said.

Jack stepped aside for Reed and Adela walking up with the palm tree fronds roof parts.

“They look amazing,” he said.

“Thanks,” Adela said while handing over her side of the roof to him. Their hands touched, and she quickly pulled away.

Adela bouncing back from giving a sexy show in the ocean earlier to this shy virgin like nothing happened intrigued him. It made him eager to do even more dirty things to her.

Reed placed his side of the roof on top of the bamboo poles first and said, “This is exceptional, man. After that cramped life raft, I can't wait to finally get a good night's sleep on my back with my legs stretched out—without those pesky sand fleas.”

“When Cami and Dom come back with the suitcases, we’ll have clothing to stuff for pillows. Cami has packed enough for an entire village.”

Jack glanced down at the ripped side of his shirt. “Did she by any chance pack fresh T-shirts XL sized?”

Adela snickered. “Maybe you can wear one of her flowy summer dresses?”

“Whatever it takes to get him out of that ratty shirt,” Reed joked.

Adela pulled the ropes she made of leaves, impressing him with some kind of knot with double loops.

“What do you think they’re up to?” Adela asked after finishing her crafty knot.

“They probably didn’t last a yard through the jungle before they screwed each other's brains out.”

Adela slapped Reed’s chest. “Stop it.”

“Hey, you asked for my opinion. While you and Jack were whispering at the beach fire looking all lovey-dovey and keeping everything PG, they were already making waves at the beach.”

Adela’s eyes rounded. “I don’t believe that for a second.”

Reed held up both hands. “Kiss and tell is not my style, but since I didn’t do the kissing…”

Zane shared a little nod, like he also knew something Jack didn’t. He would ask him about it later.

Zane had given Jack a pep talk in the jungle earlier while they searched for extra bamboo poles. Jack wanted to go all in for Adela, but feared she would eventually run the moment he showed his true colors. She talked about him being out of her league while it was the other way around. His chest tightened when the memory of a cracked windshield window flashed before his eyes. The toes of his right foot pressed down against the sole of his shoe like they always did.

Such a stupid reaction. As if he could hit the brakes twelve years later.

He jumped when Reed slapped his back.

“Which side do you and your girl want to sleep?”

Jack eyed the elevated hut with the twenty-six-foot long bamboo poles to sleep on. There weren’t any walls yet to shelter them from wind or rain, but at least the eight poles standing upright carried a rooftop made of palm tree fronds. The frame of the hut seemed decent enough and if Zane was content with the construction, so was he.

“Everything is fine with me, right, Adi?”

“Sure,” she said without taking her eyes off the braided palm leaves in her hands.
