“Yes please. I’ll take whatever you’ve got.”

Whiskey it was. Anything to numb the sensations and give her single-serving lover a little stamina. Rena made her way to the kitchen area, grabbed her phone, and texted her boyfriend. She told him she’d text him when her session was over in about two hours. By then it would be 3am and Martin would be long asleep, but at least he’d wake up knowing she was safe.

She grabbed two drinks. Whiskey for him, water for her, which she always told her clients was vodka. Their inhibitions were looser if they believed she was as intoxicated as they were.

Now, she just had to keep this guy talking for a while. God knows what she was going to say to him. She’d figure something out. The key was to just ask questions until they started talking without any prompt.

As she dropped ice into her water, she sensed movement. In the reflection of her stainless steel refrigerator, a blurry mass appeared behind her. Maybe he needed the bathroom. Maybe he wanted to get this session started immediately. Some clients preferred it that way.

She was right. Matthew stood with his body against hers. She bent forward and gyrated a little. You always needed to keep the fantasy alive.

But then something changed. The energy changed. Sexual suggestion was replaced with unease.

The man grabbed her by the hair and pulled back her head. Rena didn’t have time to register his actions, because something cold and sharp caressed her neck.

Then her glass of water turned red.
