“Yeah. But I want to make a deal with you first.”
He nods slightly, waiting for me to continue.
“If you finish college, get into Harvard for an MBA of course, then the second you graduate, the position is yours.” He continues to nod, takes in the challenge, and the light in his eyes returns.
“Okay. You got a deal.” He holds out his hand, and we shake on it.
“In the meantime, you can intern under Jess and I. We’ll help you really get comfortable with the ins and outs of Neptune, so you’re comfortable when the time arises for you to take the reins.
“Wow. Thank you.” He smiles, and it meets his eyes. I slap him on the back and tussle his hair. He immediately fixes it with both his hands as he growls.
“You know I hate when you do that.”
“You said you’d always be my little brother.” I squeeze his neck, and he swats me away with a chuckle.
“Give me some of that.” He reaches for my cigar, and I hand it to him with a laugh. Relief rushes over me when I see that classic charm returning with the color in his cheeks. I think I just dodged a bullet.
