“I love Range Rovers, but I’m not about to name my child Range Rover.” Olive sticks a finger in the air, and Romeo lets out a chuckle.
“For one, it’s not your child, Olive,” Romeo remarks.
“Rover?” Espie is still stuck in Olive’s comment, considering the name, as Olive, Romeo, and Tito burst into a laughing fit.
Whoever this baby is, there’s no doubt in my mind that they’ll be adored.
Pops comes over to sit next to me when the siblings begin a conversation that I can no longer follow. He looks me deeply in the eyes while placing a hand over mine resting on the table.
“Nicola would have loved you.”It’s words that bring tears to both of our eyes because I know how precious his wife, Vince’s mother, truly is and was to all of them. Her approval would have meant more to me than anyone.
“Thank you.” I manage to whisper, and he nods, lips pressed into a grin.
I’m truly grateful to be a part of this family. It’s everything I’ve ever wanted and more. I think my parents would have loved them as well, and when I’m here, I think I can feel their love a little extra. It gives me hope for this new generation that Vince announced tonight. As I look at the smiling faces of his family, I recognize the hope this gives them and the freedom they must feel to expect more for their lives than always looking over their shoulders.
A new era. I smile to myself, liking the sound of that almost as much as the plan itself.
