Making a knot with the tie, he glanced up at me. “And you want me to go with you?”
I shook my head. “No. I think it best if I talk to him alone. Lend me a car? You have like a dozen.”
His brows bunched as he considered, the tie hanging loosely around his neck. “Firstly, I don’t have a dozen. Not all of them are mine. A few of them were Sawyer’s. Secondly, I’d feel better if someone went with you, but,” he quickly added, because he could see I was about to argue. “I get it. Here.” He tossed me a set of keys from the pocket of his black Academy pants. I caught the fob smoothly, which was impressive since I was still groggy. “I was going to take the Jeep this morning. You take it instead. I trust your driving skills are better than your people skills?”
My lips twitched as I twirled the fob in my hand. “There is nothing wrong with my people skills. Everyone at school just sucks. And I’m an excellent driver, I’ll have you know.”
“You’re an Edwards. You better be. It’s in your blood.”
I smiled. “Thanks, Grayson. Really. For everything. I don’t know what I would have done without you.”
“Let’s hope you never have to find out,” he mumbled.
