“Well, um, we like each other.”

Hannah snorted. “We could have guessed that when my brother was trying to suck your tonsils out your throat.”

Kiera gasped and then started laughing hard. She plopped down on the side of the bed and wrapped her arms around her middle because they laughed so hard.

Once they both calmed down, Hannah asked. “How do you feel?”

“About him or everything?”

Hannah shrugged. “I guess everything, but we might not have a lot of time.”

“Okay, let me see. I like living here. You have a wonderful house.”

“I don’t think I’ll be here that much longer. Cullen wants me to move in with him. Would that be okay with you?”

Kiera thought about it for a moment. “Yes, I think so. I just want to be able to see you.”

“Oh, we’ll definitely do that. We’ll always see each other at work every day but let’s plan on getting together outside of work. I also want you to meet my other friends.”

“Yes, that’s true, we will see each other, and I’d love to meet your friends.”

“Keep talking. I want to know more.”

Kiera laughed. “I like my job so far. It’s only been a day, but Cason and Lacey have me researching whatever they need, which I enjoy.”

“And my brother?” Hannah asked.

“I … l like him, too.”

“A little or a lot?”

Kiera blushed again. “A lot.”

Hannah jumped up and down and clapped. “Oh, I’m so happy.”

“You really are?” Kiera said and smiled.

“Oh, yes. You’re perfect for each other.”

She pulled Kiera up and hugged her tightly.

“Girls, help us get dinner ready,” Cullen yelled from the kitchen.

“Let’s go,” Hannah said.

Hannah couldn’t remember having a nicer evening than sitting in the backyard with Cullen, her friend, and her brother, drinking lemonade and telling stories from their childhood.

She’d laughed so hard, her cheeks hurt, and her belly ached.

Hannah hugged Kiera at the front door. “Call me if you need anything. If not, I’ll see you at the office tomorrow. Heck, doesn’t that sound like a grown-up?”

Kiera giggled and nodded.

Cullen helped her into the truck and made sure she was belted.

As he drove them home, she studied his profile. Everything about the man screamed masculine. There was nothing sissy about him and nothing she didn’t love. His dark hair was a bit too long, but she thought it made him look like a pirate. She knew from experience that he wouldn’t cut it until it started getting in his eyes. His piercing whisky-brown eyes seemed to see everything inside of her, and she hadn’t ever been able to hide anything from him.

“What are you doing, baby?”
