“My parents usually come for a visit a few times a year. I’m sure they’ll love you.”

My eyes widen at his remark.Seriously, can he read my mind?“I don’t know about that,” I mumble under my breath.

“Why do you say that?”

“Nothing,” I’m quick to reply. Wyatt isn’t having any of that, however.

He stops in front of the table, pulling out a chair for me. I sit down as he pushes the chair in, inhaling sharply when his lips brush against the shell of my ear.

“Don’t hide from me, Kennedy,” he breathes out.

I take a shuddering breath, then look at him over my shoulder. Green eyes lock onto mine, piercing me through and through.

“My mom left us a few years ago,” I whisper, never breaking eye contact. I have no idea why I just confessed that to this man, but I don’t regret it. Wyatt’s gaze turns soft, though I don’t see any pity in his emerald eyes.

“She’s a damn fool for not seeing what was in front of her,” he tells me, his tone firm yet comforting. “I’m sorry you had to deal with that on top of everything else.”

I blink a few times, then nod my head. I’m not sure what to do with all of his attention or kind words, but I want more.

Wyatt flashes me a grin, then takes the seat next to me. The table is crowded with plates and food. He made spaghetti with meatballs and garlic bread. A bowl of salad is pushed off to the side and I reach for that first.

I’ve gained some weight in the last few months. It was mostly stress and comforting eating after my father’s heart attack, but I know I need to start eating healthier. My already curvy body has only gotten bigger.

An errant thought enters my mind before I can shut it down.I wonder if Wyatt likes curvy girls.I steal a glance at him under my eyelashes as I add some salad to my plate. He’s staring at me instead of the food, his eyes roaming over my body. A blush spreads across my face, pleasure uncurling in my stomach at the desire I can see in his eyes.

Maybe I don’t need to watch my weight…

“Salad?” I ask, passing the bowl to him. Wyatt blinks, his eyes meeting mine.

“Thanks.”

He adds a bit to his plate and I grab a piece of garlic bread before I pass him the plate. I fill the rest of my plate with spaghetti and dig in, moaning as the garlic and oregano hit my tongue.

"This is so good," I tell him with a smile. I look over at him to see that he looks like he's in pain. His blue eyes have darkened with desire and I feel my cheeks turning red as I continue to stare at him.

“Wyatt? Are you in here?” comes a male voice as the front door bangs shut. The spell that was over us is broken.

I shove another bite of spaghetti into my mouth as Wyatt turns to glare at the intruder.

“Hey, there you are. Oh! Hi, again,” Kai says as he spots me at the table with his brother.

“Hi,” I say, waving slightly.

"Did you need something?"

"I was going to see if you wanted to grab a bite to eat," Kai says. "But it looks like you already cooked."

"Why don't you join us?" I offer and I see Wyatt glaring at me. "There's more than enough food."

Plus, with you here, maybe I’ll be able to get my libido in check.

“Don’t mind if I do,” Kai says happily as he grabs another plate from the cupboard and pulls out the chair across from me.

“How are you liking the Stud Farm?” Kai asks after he’s filled his plate. I almost choke on my bite of garlic bread.

“What?” I half wheeze as Wyatt passes me a glass of water.

"Sorry, that's what the people in town call this place. It's kind of a long-running joke."
