“Don’t,” Dylan barked.

Gareth grinned at him. “I guess I should be grateful you even showed up to meet me.”

Dylan replied, “No. I’m a man of my word. And you can count on this, I’ll go with you to see Dad, but I’m not saying I’ll keep my mouth shut about what we learn. If I think we all need to know, I’ll speak up.”

The last thing this family needed was to start mistrusting each other. They were in a good place right now, and he wasn’t going to let Gareth or anyone else fuck it up over something that didn’t mean anything anymore.

“You won’t have to. I’ll do it first.”

Dylan left the bar, pleased with Gareth’s response. Hopefully he was pleased with whatever they found out as well.

When he got to the theater, he found the alleyway vacant. He asked around if anyone had seen her, and no one had. There wasn’t even any proof that she’d been there. Was it because she didn’t want to be found? Maybe that’s a good thing. I don’t need anyone who needs taking care of. I’m not that guy.

Not now, and not ever.
