“And you’re waiting tables?” Why wouldn’t they utilize her skills?
“Mama will never let go of the reigns. Even if she did, I’m not sure I want them. They have dedicated their entire lives to that restaurant. I can’t remember them ever taking a vacation. I don’t want that when I have a family. I want…I’m not sure what I want, really, but it’s not that.”
“Maybe we can use that as what breaks us up. I’m not willing to give up the city and you’re not giving up the restaurant.”
“I don’t see how that helps me. I’ll be stuck there for life after that,” she said in a defeated tone.
“Or they’ll see that they are holding you back and cut you free,” Dylan stated.
He could tell she liked that plan, as her grin practically lit up the car. “You know Dylan, you might just be a genius.”
I hope you remember that if it backfires. That only got her out of the restaurant, not out of the so-called relationship with him. One thing at a time. He just hoped no one found out that it wasn’t real, or they’d both have some answering to do. Dylan had no plans of sharing their little charade. Actually, he had every intention of enjoying it as long as it lasted.
A distraction, but a sweet one, at least.
There was one thing this little road trip confirmed for him. Sofia was far more complex than one would think. She might be one of the sweetest women he’d met in a long time, but she was very unpredictable as well. He found the combination very…appealing.
Maybe my type has changed, and she’s it.
