He wasn’t thinking of her father at the time. But it potentially could become awkward. What was the worst thing that could happen? He probably would ask Charles what his intentions were. Charles would answer honestly. I care very much about her. For now, that’s all he could commit to. But he believed this was turning into something so much more.

“Are you planning on visiting your parents again next weekend?” Charles asked.

“No. I’m trying to go every other weekend. Why?”

“I was thinking we might want to take a little trip. Someplace where no one knows either of us and you can scream all you want.”

She pulled her hand away from his and slapped his playfully. “Stop reminding me!”

“So what do you think? I’ll even plan it.” Hopefully taking that pressure off her would help seal the deal.

“Charles, you know I can’t. I’ve got the cat to watch for another week.” She let out a heavy sigh and continued. “And I really should spend some time looking for what I’m doing next.”

“Are you leaving Grayson?” That would be awesome news are far as he was concerned.

“No. My apartment and cat babysitting job will be over, so I need to find another one.”

He hadn’t thought about that. There was plenty of room at his penthouse, but asking her to live with him was a huge step. What if it didn’t work out? He could never ask her to leave without another place to go to. He could always pay for an apartment for her. That way when they needed space, they each had their own.

“Why don’t you let me help?”

“Sure. Maybe that’s what we can do tomorrow night,” Rosslyn said, smiling. “Thanks.”

He was surprised she was in agreement. Charles thought for sure he’d need to do some convincing “It’s my pleasure. While we look we can grab a bite to eat.”

“Okay, but Mr. Grayson is supposed to be back tomorrow. I’m not sure what time I’ll be getting off work.”

“Should we add looking for another job at the same time?” Charles half joked.

“I hope not. But you never know. He’s so unpredictable. I guess if he fires me, I go back home.”

“You wouldn’t stay in the city?” With me?

“Who would hire me here if I get fired from Grayson Corp?”

If people knew Maxwell like he did, they’d only hire people he didn’t want. “I’m sure I could help you with that as well.”

“I’m not going to work for you, Charles,” she said firmly.

“Good. Because I’m not going to hire you. I have strict policies that would make working around you . . . extremely uncomfortable.”

“Oh, you mean we couldn’t sleep together?” Rosslyn asked.

“No dating at all.”

“Boy, you’re a tough boss. Mr. Grayson doesn’t care about that. As long as you do your job and kiss his ass.” She laughed. “For the record, I don’t kiss anyone’s ass.”

He was glad to hear it. “I didn’t think you did. But you’re right, I’m nothing like him.”

“I’m glad. He’s not always the nicest person.”

“Has he said or done anything to you he shouldn’t?” If he had, Charles was going to fucking kill the bastard.

“No. I’m pretty much non-existent as far as he’s concerned.”

“That might be a good thing.” He didn’t want her too close with Maxwell.

“In some ways yes. In others . . . not so much. But it is what it is,” Rosslyn said.
