“Fuck. After lecturing me not to say one fucking word, you do.”

He couldn’t argue with Gareth there. “Dylan didn’t leave me much choice. He swore not to say a word to the others. But once we are ready to make our move, we will have to clue them all in.”

“No shit. Because when Maxwell goes batshit crazy on revenge, each of us will have a target on our back. That’s why I want you to have all the facts before you act. If not, we’re all fucked.”

Charles knew that. Maxwell would go after Lawson Steel full force. Would he do more than just go after the company? That was something none of them knew. The last pieces of the puzzle were knowing how dirty his hands were and how wide his reach. “Don’t worry, when I go to the feds, he won’t be able to back pedal or buy his way out of it.”

“I sure as hell hope not. Otherwise, it’s going to make what happened to Dad look like a beach party.”

Only Charles knew how deeply that had affected their father. The money was only one piece. He had lost his fight. When Charles asked him what was wrong, his father wouldn’t answer. His reputation being questioned had crushed his father. And Charles was damn sure his grandfather had some choice words about it as well. If anything, his grandfather probably made his father feel as though he was getting what he deserved. No one deserved to be treated like that. Well, maybe Maxwell. And maybe my grandfather too.

For now he listened, learned, and waited. The time was approaching, but it couldn’t be rushed. He hadn’t thought too much about the people working for Maxwell, but now he needed to. Charles didn’t want one innocent person getting caught in the crossfire. Especially if that person was Rosslyn.
