Chapter 17

Reesa

Although I would’ve loved to have spent the entire night in Finn’s arms, there was no way I could allow him to be seen leaving my house in the morning. It was probably going to be the hardest thing to do, but I needed to ask him to leave.

Finn took up most of my bed, leaving me to sleep with a leg over his. If he rolled over, I might just end up on the floor. I propped myself up on an elbow to look down at his handsome face. He was still out cold.

I had done quite a bit of exploring last night, but with him naked beside me I might as well enjoy the view one more time.

Everything about him was magnificent. I’d never seen any beard trimmed so perfectly and couldn’t forget its feathery tickle as he kissed my entire body. Until Finn, I’d never even kissed someone with a beard. Now I can’t imagine him without one.

It wasn’t only his beard that was sexy as hell. His green eyes drew me in, every time he looked at me. With his long, slender nose and his big hands, I should’ve guessed everything would be large. I was a bit intimidated when he first removed his boxer shorts, but Finn took his time with me, making sure I adjusted to his size.

Even just thinking about it made me yearn to make love with him again. But we were out of condoms and the clock was ticking. Sadly, it was time to wake this gorgeous, gentle giant.

As I placed my hand on his chest, Finn asked, “Are you sure there’s nothing else you want to see?”

I could feel the heat rushing to my cheeks. If I’d known he was awake, I’d never have eyed him so boldly from head to toe.

“I was just…thinking about how to…that I should…that you should go before the sun rises.”

With his eyes now open, he said, “I wish we could spend the entire day like this.” He stroked my bare back and added, “But I’d need to stop at the resort anyway.”

“Do you have a meeting with Logan?” I asked, trying to avoid looking at his cock, since it seemed to move whenever I spoke. Don’t look. Don’t touch. If I did, neither of us would ever get out of this bed.

“No meeting. But I have a box of condoms there that I wish I had with me now,” he grinned.

This wasn’t fair. I’d had to refuse myself so much in my life, and now when I finally find happiness, I have to say no. But that didn’t mean I couldn’t enjoy a few more minutes of lighthearted fun with Finn.

“An entire box? That’s quite ambitious since you’re only here for two more days,” I teased.

He laughed and grabbed hold of me, pulling me on top of him. “I never back down from a challenge.”

I felt his cock grow hard, and I hated having to utter my next words. “We’ll need to finish this…conversation later. Right now, you need to go. I can’t risk Barry Patrell snapping a picture of you leaving my house in the morning.”

Finn nodded. “I understand. I was more worried about how you would explain Logan’s car here overnight.”

That hadn’t even crossed my mind. Great. Something else to worry about. If my security team was actually doing its job, none of this would be a concern.

I rolled back off him and got out of bed. I pulled on my robe and said, “You really need to go.” The panic in my voice rang through loud and clear.

Finn got up and before dressing he pulled me into his arms. “Reesa, I’m sorry if my staying added more stress in your life, but I don’t regret us making love last night.”

My eyes teared up. “Neither do I, Finn. I just wish that things could be different. That we could be together and not have to worry about what anyone would say.”

He nodded. “One thing about life is that change is inevitable.”

I fought to keep my composure and said, “It is. And I just want to make sure all the changes are in the right direction. Tabiq can’t afford another setback.” And neither can I.

Finn kissed my forehead and said, “I’ll get dressed and go, but we can talk about this tonight.” As he dressed, he said, “If you’re worried someone might spot me here, would you rather come to New Hope? Barry won’t be allowed inside and no one working there would ever risk their job over gossip.”

“How about if I text you later?” I asked. I’d put too much on the backburner the last few days and I knew I had to spend at least one entire day in the office.

Dressed, Finn said, “I’m going to be back in town today. There were a few more shops I wanted to visit.”

“You’re not going to the hospital?” I asked. “I thought that is why you came to Tabiq.”

“I was here for one reason only,” he said, tilting my chin to meet his gaze. “To be with you.”
