"I'm going to keep my chef on, but have her start coming here and making meals for you. It will give me peace of mind knowing you’re eating."
"Can I tell her what meals I like?"
"Of course. She made that chocolate cake."
"Deal. Now get going."
Igo up to my apartment and for the first time in days, I'm happy to be there. The memories of Brice don't make me sad.
I pull out my laptop and get to work on getting things in order. I have a lot to do if I'm going to prove that I’m all in. But I just hope I'm not too late.
When I crawl into bed that night, it's into my own bed. Though I swear I can still smell Brice in it. It's the best night's sleep I can remember ever getting.
The next day, I start making calls and let my parents know of my decision. They show me nothing but love and support. My dad helps me set up a meeting with the board members and promises to stand by my side when I tell them my plans. They could say no, but really, they’re just a formality. Between my dad and me, we still own over fifty percent of the company stocks.
I have a few moments of doubt about my choices, but sometimes when you finally make a hard choice, the universe has a way of telling you that you’re on the right path. So, when my phone goes off and I get that confirmation, there is no going back.
