"What was that about?" Brice asks, approaching me with his parents.
"She paid for his room," his mom says.
I look away because I was hoping to do this without the big hoopla.
"Did you?" Brice asks.
I sigh. "He's a friend of yours. I figured if he couldn't hire a ranch hand to help out, the medical bills would be a burden, so I took care of them. Now can we drop this?”
They do, and we stay for a little bit before giving Bethany her space and leaving for home.
Once we’re back, Brice takes me to the living room and sits on the couch, pulling me into his lap.Wrapping his arms around me, he says, "I just need to hold you.”.
Not want, but need. So, I know I’ll sit there as long as he needs me. He's stressed and tense and I wish there was something I could do.
