Well, it's now or never.

"Nothing much. Though, I’ll be back in here tomorrow night, because I actually have a date. I had to cancel earlier this week, but he agreed to meet me here for dinner." I tell her, before taking a drink.

"Good for you!" She says, though it's not hard to tell her enthusiasm is fake. "He lives there in Jasper, too?"

"Yeah. I don't know much about him. My friend, Becca, set me up with him."

"Well, I can't wait to meet him." She turns around to get something behind her.

A moment later, she’s back with a bag in her hands.

"Here is your food. I threw in a few pieces of our Apple Cinnamon Blaze cake. I know it's both you and your dad's favorite." She says with a wink.

Smiling, I thank her, before heading out of the door. Geo is studying me and nods his head, before turning back to the gentleman next to him. Most of the people are trying to act like they aren't looking at me, but they are.

They heard my comment about the date, and it will be all over town, before bedtime tonight. It's certain Garrett will hear about it, and the only uncertainty is who will tell him.

If I had to put my money on it, I'd go as far as saying Violet is calling him up right now to update him, before I even make it to my dad's place. Violet is almost as bad as Becca is with matchmaking. Not only will she not leave anything to chance, but she has not hidden the fact that it’s her opinion that Garrett and I should be together.

What would she think, if she knew our past, and what happened on prom night? I think she'd be pushing us together even faster.

Garrett

I'm in the barn with the baby horse that was born last night and his momma. My dad tried to drill into me that we don't call it a baby horse, and it's called a foal, but I never broke the habit. To this day, I still call it a baby horse.

Even though I grew up on this ranch and have seen many births, it always amazes me how fast the horses stand after birth. My dad told me when I lose that amazement, it's time to retire. So, I hope I never do.

I'm leaning against the stall gate, staring at the baby horse feeding, when a truck pulls up. I don't pay much attention to my ranch managers. Geo went into town a while ago and is probably back.

He joins me in the barn a moment later.

"Kaylee’s in town," he says.

"Yeah, she's visiting her father this weekend."

"Well, she’s doing more than that. She has a date tomorrow night at the diner."

"What?"

A date? She just canceled the blind date the other night, and she already has another one?

"Yeah, that's what I heard her tell Violet,” he nods.

I wonder why she didn't mention it to me. Then again, we haven't talked, since our dinner, and I’ve been wrapped up here with the birth.

So, I pull out my phone and snap a quick photo of the little horse, and then send it to her.

Me:This guy needs a name.

Kaylee:OMG! He's so cute!

Me: His momma struggled, and it's why I haven't talked to you in a few days.

Kaylee:Is she okay?

Me:Yeah, just tired.

Kaylee:Can I stop by, while I'm here, to see them both?
