“Fuck Summer,” I hissed, as my movements became more frantic. My other hand slammed against the tiles in front of my head that had involuntarily hung backwards, arching my throat upwards and trying to hold back the moans and groans. I continued to stroke my cock faster, precum bubbled at my slit and I could feel the heaviness in my balls as I traveled the palm of my hand up and down, thinking of Summer’s hot body and her delicious mouth. The way I only brushed my mouth against her soft lips instead of diving into her mouth with my tongue. I mean, if her mouth was that sweet, then I wonder if her pussy would taste just as good. “Fuck, yes. Yes. Yes,” I roared. Hot white stripes of cum shot from my cock and it painted the shower tiles as I panted harshly, trying to gather my breath.

Damn. I’d only just met Summer, and I’d never cum harder in my life from a whisper of a kiss. I took the showerhead, spraying it onto the shower tiles, washing away any trace of what I’d just done. I watched as the remainder of my jizz went down the drains. It made me panic. How the fuck would I cope if we did become an item without turning into a pubescent teenager? I just don’t know.

The moment I’d cleaned myself up and tied the towel around my hips, I heard the knock at my bedroom door. I quickly turned the music to a lower level and went back to open the door.

“Did I disturb you, Dad?” I asked, with the door half open and my head popped around the edge. “I needed to wash the sea water and grit of the sand off. Did you need me?”

“Did you not hear me when you came running in before?” Dad mumbled under his breath. “I wanted a chat and you just rushed in here like there was a fire. Get some clothes on and come down to the kitchen. I’ve made Luau Stew.”

“I’ll be five minutes.” I let the words rush out of my mouth as my stomach grumbled at the thought of one of my favorite meals. “Please say you made Mrs. Olen’s chicken version. It’s amazing. I didn’t like the squid version you attempted last time.”

I quickly grabbed a clean cotton aloha shirt covered in palm trees and left the top couple of buttons undone before I threw on a pair of khaki shorts, forgetting the boxers. I didn’t want any restrictions and the cool air around my balls would be heaven.

I got to the table with moments to spare as Dad placed a bowl of Luau Stew on the straw mat.

“Just in time. Pull up a seat. I need to talk to you about tomorrow’s training,” Dad muttered as he placed his own bowl down and took a seat. “I thought we could try something different.”

I ran my gaze over the meal before I placed my spoon in and blew a short sharp breath in hope of cooling the liquid before allowing it to hit my tongue. Damn, that was good. Dad had gotten Mrs. Olen’s recipe near enough perfect this time. I mean, it was super flavorful and saucy, and Dad remembered that the Luau leaves had to be actually cooked this time.

I’d never been so grateful when Finn came over and caught him prepping it for the first time and snatched the leaves from his hands before he’d taken a bite and suffered with a reaction and the super itchy throat. Apparently, his next challenge was to move on from serving it with rice and finally learn to make poi. It’s a staple starch here and Dad was fourth generation living here, but when it came to cooking, he needed his hand holding every step of the way.

“What do you think we should do differently for tomorrow’s training? I mean, Finn can’t make it, but Miles will be along and a few of the other guys. Tactics aren’t normally dinner table discussion…” I grabbed the pitcher of iced lemonade from the center of the table and poured a glass before I raised my brow and pointed at his glass. “Would you like one?”

“Yeah, that would be good,” Dad said as he placed his spoon down and glanced up at me. “Hudson, I want you to take over tomorrow’s training session.”

My mind flitted back and forth as I managed to place my glass back down with my shaking hands. I’d pleaded with my dad for a chance at leadership. A chance to show him I knew how to keep the stamina of each team member intact. Every time I’d asked, though, it had been a resounding no. Why now? What was so different?

“Dad,” I cautiously asked, scared at the answer I may receive. “Why now?”

“Because I have to retire. It’s time.” I gazed up into his watery eyes and my own tears began to gather.

We both knew what that meant. Dad had failed the fitness test this time, and it was my chance to continue the family name.

Be the next lifeguard leader of our family.

CHAPTERFIVE

SUMMER

Ididn’t see my mom the rest of last night. I guess she’d got herself intoxicated on the Koloa Rum with Natalia and Raquel, Jess and Amelia’s moms and ended up crashing in bed. I wasn’t about to wake her before dawn and tell her I was heading out for the day with some guy I’d just met. I mean, I was old enough to make my own decisions, but it didn’t stop her from voicing her opinion on the matter. To be honest, I didn’t begrudge it either, since I was all she had left.

The moment I headed straight down to Spencer Park Beach, my mouth dried up immediately as my feet froze at the sight in front of me. Hudson was decorating the outside of a camping tent with fairy lights, dressed in red shorts with yellow piping. Lifeguard shorts. What was he up to?

“I know you’re there, Summer.” His smooth deep tone carried across to where I stood, watching him without even taking a backwards glance. How was he so in tune with my body? It was as if I was sitting face to face in front of him the way he spoke with such determination. “Come over here and give me a hand.”

“If you’re sure,” I said with an edge of hesitation as I noticed the sun peeping up above the horizon. “I don’t want to get in the way.”

“You won’t, my ko’u aloha,” Hudson whispered as he grasped my hand and kissed my knuckles the moment I was by his side. I was too scared to ask him what he’d just said to me, but the heartfelt way he had finished his expression made me feel it was more than an endearment of friendship. “The guys will be here soon, including my dad. He’s sort of in charge normally.”

“Normally. Why normally?” I asked as Hudson pulled back one of the camping tent fabric fronts quickly and grabbed a blanket without letting me have a peek inside. He unrolled the blanket in front of the tent and indicated for me to take a seat. “Am I in for a treat?”

“Oh, for sure. I’m leading the training today. So, you get to watch the full show.” He chuckled before he knelt next to me. “Do you think you’d like that?”

I leant in, closing the space between us before I pushed his hard abdominal muscles and he fell backwards behind me into the sand.

“I don’t know. I may prefer to look at some other guy getting hot and sweaty,” I admitted as I bit down on my lip.

I’d never seen a man’s facial expression turn feral before, as I heard a ripped growl leave the depths of his throat. Hudson quickly righted his position onto his hands and knees and crawled slowly forward, taking his time, and watching my movements. I’d never felt so wanted before as my breath hitched in a jagged motion and I remained frozen, watching his enticing movements as he stalked toward me. His arms encased me as he pushed my body backwards in the sand, his nose so close to mine that I could feel each breath he took as I did one of my own. I wanted him so much and he knew it.
