“Take a seat at the table,” I ordered. “I’ll be right with you.”

“Need help with anything?” he asked.

“Yes. Take this toast with you,” I said, turning to face him. “I’ll be right there.”

“Okay.” He walked away in his outfit from last night—shirt and trousers—and took a seat at the table.

I grabbed the plates from the oven and walked over to him. “Here you go.” I placed his plate down in front of him before I placed mine down and took the seat opposite him. “Hope you enjoy it.”

“This looks good.” He grabbed his fork and took a bite of bacon. He moaned at the taste and the sound went straight to my cock. “Fuck, that’s good.”

I reached down and adjusted myself. If he kept moaning like that, this breakfast would be going cold as I dragged him back to my bedroom and dirtied him up again.

“You look a bit uncomfortable over there.” He grinned as he forked some baked beans up. “Need me to help?”

I rolled my eyes at him. “I’m good.” I took a bite of the crispy bacon before I reached over to grab a slice of toast. I stopped when he grabbed my hand before I could grab a slice.

“Thank you.” He smiled over at me before he grasped my fingers and brought my knuckles up to his lips.

“What are you thanking me for?” I asked. “The breakfast didn’t take long to cook.”

“No.” He shook his head at me. “Not for breakfast. For everything. For being here. For still being here and not moving on to the next city yet. For giving us a chance. For wanting to have these moments with me.” He rubbed his thumb across my knuckles. “Mostly for being my missing piece.”

I was choked up at his words. I wasn’t a crier by nature, but I loved the way he spoke to me. He was so easy to fall for. I only hoped that it was just as easy for him to fall for me.

“I’ll see you later, then.” I walked Freddie to the door.

“I start at four pm, so if I can’t get back before then, just come by the bar and see me.” He trailed his hand down my arm and squeezed his hand in mine. “You can keep me company and I can serve you drinks till I get off.”

“Okay.” I leaned forward and pressed my lips to his briefly before I pulled back.

“Tell Thomas I said hello.”

“I will.” I stood there and watched him go before I walked back inside. I grabbed my tablet off the coffee table and walked to the bedroom before I took a seat and made myself comfortable as I waited for the call to connect. I sniffed the pillowcase, loving the peppermint scent of Freddie’s that clung to the material.

Straightening up, I grinned when Lauren’s beautiful face appeared on the screen.

“You still haven’t popped that baby out yet?” I asked her as Thomas took a seat next to her.

She moved the screen slightly, so that they were both in the view, rolling her eyes at me as she did.

“Approach with caution, man.” He widened his eyes at me before he mockingly nodded his head to Lauren. “She has a short fuse lately.”

She rolled her eyes at him. “Don’t start,” she muttered.

I laughed at their banter when I saw Thomas looking at something off to the side.

“So, anyway,” Lauren inserted. “How have you been, Luke?”

Before I could answer, more screens started popping up as Nina and Charlie appeared. Seconds later, James appeared next to Nina.

“Hey guys!” I grinned at all of their smiling faces. “I feel like this was staged. It’s good to see you all.”

“Of course it was staged.” Nina giggled as she cuddled herself into James’s side. “It’s been too long since we were all together. The wedding doesn’t count, as Lauren couldn’t make it.”

“Well, and Alex,” Charlie said. “But he has to work the bar today.”
