“Fuck… yes… Aiden. Make me forget. Don’t just give me dirty words. Show me.” I hiss as I grip him tighter and dig my heels into his ass harder.

“Absolutely.” He groans as he paces towards my room. “I’ve got all the time in the world to show you how much I need you. Don’t expect to be able to move later.”

“Promises, promises.”

AIDEN

Ireplay Blaire’s words in my head, trying to allow them to sink in, but to make myself become less angry is a challenge. Why would someone hurt her and make her feel that way? A man should worship his woman, not become a lowlife piece of shit without a care for anyone but themselves. It’s sick, a complete crime against humanity and he walks around without a care in the world. If he’s starting to creep around Blaire again, it won't be for long. I’ll soon have his ass straight outside the border and back to where he came from, if not behind bars. He will know his actions are not acceptable. Fuck that. I will make him see the consequences myself.

I still can't believe that Blaire chose to confide in me, and not her own family. I know Jake would understand, but being her brother is different to a friend or even lover. His protective nature would take hold and he won't rest until he’s found the fucker. On the other hand, I would love to give my own warning to the guy, but Blaire’s well-being is my top priority. I just want her safe and secure. Nothing else matters to me.

I check the time and see I need to get to the station. I owe Liam for swapping shifts. Blaire is the only girl that could have me jumping through hoops, but she needed me. Her well-being is a priority for me already. She’s snuck under my guard and now is mine to keep safe. I didn't even hesitate to go to her. I’ve allowed Blaire to become the distraction to my career that I never thought could happen. Liam did my shift, but it means I would be covering him now alongside Jake, except I don’t want to leave her. It will be hard enough not being with her, but having to act like everything is normal alongside Jake? That's a near impossibility.

“Blaire, baby.” I trail my finger down her cheek, to her neck and collarbone as I watch her swallow gently. Her tongue wets her lips before I tweak my thumb and forefinger across her already pert nipple.

“This is a nice wake up call. Is it morning already?” she says in a husky voice. Her hips raise off the mattress and the sheets cascade further down her body.

“I wish it was, but I have to go back to work,” I say in a sullen tone. “Baby, I want you to ring Levi. I don’t want you alone. Do you understand?”

She sits up and nods at me with a tremble to her lip. “I will, I promise.”

“Stay here until he arrives and bolt the door.” I pull her into my chest and trail a line of kisses down her neck, making her moan. “I mean it.”

I pass her cell to her, and she pulls up his number, calling him on speakerphone while using my body for comfort.

“Levi,” she says down the speaker when the line connects.

“Blaire, are you okay?” he asks as I hear the slam of a door and the door knocker bang against it. “Talk to me.”

She shakes her head, unable to speak. Her grip tightens on my shoulder before she looks up at me and pleads for me to take control.

“Levi, my name is Aiden Huntington. Before I say anything else, do you know where Rich is?” I ask point blankly.

“Erm, no, we don’t talk anymore. I may have shown him how it feels to be on the receiving end of it for once. I’m not proud of it, but it was long overdue, if you get my meaning…” he replies seriously.

“Yeah, I get it loud and clear, man. That must have been hard, being family and all…” I swallow the lump back in my throat while my hand massages small circles on Blaire’s arm.

“Yeah, but it was needed. Maybe we can sort things out later, if he gets the help he needs, but I guess that’s what you’re calling me about in a way.” Levi gets straight to the point.

“Yeah, it is. Blaire is with me and I know everything about Rich,” I state calmly, even though the anger within me is at an all-time high. “I think we may have a problem. Are you able to get to Armstrong?”

“Yeah, I’ve got the bike. It will take me a few hours. I’m not far off that way visiting friends. I can set off now,” he replies as I hear the familiar rev of a bike.

“I’ll text you Blaire’s address, and my cell number in case you need me. If I don’t answer I’ll be on a call, but leave a message and I’ll get back to you once I can. We’ll fill you in when you get here,” I state, before giving a gentle kiss to the top of Blaire’s head.

“Thanks, man. Hey Blaire, I know you’re listening, so I want to tell you a few truths. I didn’t know he was being abusive, he had us all fooled. Brother or not, I would have helped you if you’d have told me. I know I was a moody shit and we never really talked but I wish you’d have told me. You must really trust this guy to have told him about that day. That means something Blaire, you’ve found something special; something to protect and nurture. Remember you’re not alone, okay? I’ll see you soon,” he says quietly and slowly with so much care and consideration laced in the tones of his voice. I can’t help feeling choked up myself, let alone wondering how Blaire feels.

“Thanks, Levi.” I squeeze the words out from my throat.

“Aiden means a lot, but I need this ghost of the past to finally leave me alone, so I can start living and breathing again, without watching over my shoulder,” she says as she watches my face intently.

“I’m on my way,” Levi says, interrupting the pull between us.

I put the cell down and I gaze up at her. “Blaire, you mean a lot to me too, baby,” I admit, allowing the extra beat in my heart to finally settle in my chest.

I kiss her lips gently and swallow the sob from the depths of her throat before I remove myself from the warmth of her body and climb out of the bed.
