“She already thinks you’re coming.” Cash plugged his phone into the charger. “Remember? Best birthday present ever.”
Without waiting for my response, he started the engine and pulled out of the gas station.
I was still wrapping my head around the new plan when my phone buzzed in my purse. I retrieved it and saw that I’d gotten a text from Isabella. It was a picture of all three of my furbabies curled up sleeping on the kitchen floor. She also wrote that, so far, no one was the wiser I was out of town. She’d let Jimmy know that I was on a road trip and she was going to look after my cats, but no one had asked her any other questions.
I texted back thanking her and letting her know that I might be gone a few days. Bubbles appeared right away. Within seconds her response came through telling me to take as much time as I needed with a thumbs up.
“Everything okay?” Cash asked as I put my phone away.
“Yep.”
Other than I didn’t know which one I was more nervous about, meeting the man that might be my father or meeting Cash’s mom.
