My chest constricted as her large blue eyes surrounded by dark, thick lashes peered up at me. My fingers itched to touch her long blonde hair with highlights that shimmered like spun gold. I was held captive by her full raspberry-tinted lips, her button nose, and creamy fair complexion that completed the angelic picture.
Her beauty was ethereal, otherworldly, and I felt entranced by it each and every time I saw her.
“Um, can I call you back?” I didn’t hear what the person at the other end of the line said but Cheyenne answered, “It’s Cash.”
I knew it was ridiculous, but I was glad that whoever she was talking to knew who I was.
“Okay, bye.” Cheyenne hung up and her attention was fully on me. A smile spread on her face that had my heart jumping in my chest.
A smile that told me I wasn’t too late. Whatever Cheyenne’s reasoning had been for keeping her distance there was still something between us.
Something that suddenly, I was prepared to fight for. It was amazing the clarity that white-hot jealousy had given me.
