The glint of challenge was back in her eyes. “Do you have a better one?”

“Better than us stripping and creating a make-shift fort to sleep in?” As he heard the words coming out of his mouth, he felt like an idiot for not jumping on board with this plan.

“Yes.” She nodded as she placed her hand against his cheek and he flinched at how cold it was. “I’m freezing. You are not.” She removed her hand, and he missed the contact even though it had felt like an ice cube. “You are obviously hot blooded, and I don’t want to spend the night miserable and freezing. Sitting up here surrounded by windows is going to be much colder than if we were lying in the back, with some barrier between us and the glass, using our body heat to warm us up.”

Well, when she put it like that…

“We’re both adults,” she continued. “And I’m an excellent judge of character and I know you don’t have any bad intentions toward me. Plus, I saved your life, so you owe me, and I think this is the best solution, unless you have any other objections.”

“You sound like a lawyer.”

“I am a lawyer.”

“I thought you said you were in real estate.”

“I am. I also have an MBA.” She stared at him for a beat before asking, “So, are we good?”

Easton wasn’t sure if good was the word he’d describe himself as being. Fucking amazing was more like it.

“We’re good.”

“Great.”

Easton watched as she climbed into the back and started tugging at the seat to lay it down. After a few unsuccessful tries, he spoke up, “I’ll do that.”

He didn’t want to open the door and let any cold air in, but it would be a tight fit getting his six-foot-four frame into the back. He managed to climb over and when he did, he realized there was no way he’d be able to get the seats down and rearrange things with her in the back. “You should go back in the front.”

She looked for a second like she was going to argue with him, but instead she just nodded. As she climbed back into the front, he was treated to a perfect view of her ass mere inches from his face. It was still covered in denim but soon it would not be.

Easton loved to challenge himself mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Over the course of his adult life, he’d learned to speak three different languages, he’d gone on over a dozen fasts that lasted anywhere from a week to a month. He’d competed in a half dozen triathlons. He’d even given up sex for prolonged periods of time. In fact, he’d been celibate for the past year.

Those all seemed like a piece of cake compared to what this challenge would be. He had a feeling tonight was going to test him more than anything he’d ever faced in his life.
