“You should close your eyes, you look tired. I’ll read to you.”

Since his mom got sick, Grady had started reading to her because the strain was too much on her eyes. He skipped the love scenes, his mom had to read those on her own.

Grady picked up Taming the Duchess, which was book five from his mom’s favorite series Rogues of Riverglen. Grady had to admit, he’d sort of gotten hooked as well. He was dying to know who the Duke of Havenshire was going to end up with in the next and final book in the series. He liked the Duke, who was the sole holdout of all the rogues. He wouldn’t allow society or his family to pressure him into settling down. He was waiting for the right person and didn’t care about that person’s standing.

He also had a sarcastic wit that Grady appreciated.

His mom studied him closely before slowly shutting her eyes.

He’d just opened up to where they’d left off when she said, “When you’re ready, I’d love to hear about her.”

Grady grinned. His mom never missed anything. As tempted as he was to tell her about Olive St. Claire, he needed more information before he did. His mom needed spoiler alerts and at this point in the story, he didn’t have any. After this weekend, however it played out, he would tell her. Even if he didn’t see her again. Which he really hoped would not be their ending.
