‘Ermmm,’ Tammy said, trying not to seem as freaked-out as she currently was, ‘I’m just thinking about what a fracture from this height might feel like. Probably would need to head to the emergency room.’
‘Don’t worry!’ June said, panting, ‘My Daddies did extensive tests on the structure. There’s no way— arrghh!’ She yelled as she tripped over her own foot, and tumbled down onto the solid floor of the treehouse with a bump. ‘I’m alright,’ she said, cheek squished up against the floor.
Despite June’s assurances, Tammy wanted to check her over. Sure enough, the pugnacious Little was just fine.
After June had agreed to having her pulse checked and her ankle examined, she said, ‘Tell it to me straight, doc, how bad is it?’
‘Only thing we’re dealing with here is a nasty case of hubris.’
Billie gasped. ‘Oh no! Is that treatable?’
‘In this case,’ Tammy joked, ‘I fear not.’
Soon, the tea party was winding down. As well as the stuffies all getting to enjoy plenty of snacks, the Littles ate their fill, too. Cream cakes, donuts, and lots of cocoa, all provided — apparently — by Shay at the pub.
‘Hard to imagine him making anything so fun,’ Tammy remarked as she helped June pack stuff away.
‘He’s a funny character,’ June agreed. ‘Seems to be hurting all the time. He’s so quiet.’
‘It’s the way he’s always been. Doesn’t help that he hates me.’
‘I’m sure that’s not true,’ Isla chipped in. ‘Who could hate you?’
My father.
‘Oh I don’t know,’ Tammy said. ‘Lots of people, probably.’
‘I still can’t get over the fact that you used to know the Healy brothers when they were teenagers,’ said Billie. ‘That’s so nuts!’
There was a sudden voice from down below that Tammy didn’t recognize. ‘You all behaving yourselves up there?’
‘Daddy!’ June squealed.
Moments later, a handsome guy wearing a Stetson joined them up in the tree. It was Nate, one of June’s two Daddies. He helped them clear up the rest of the mess and then insisted that they finish up.
‘It’s gonna be lunchtime soon, and I’ve cooked up something special for you,’ Nate said.
‘Erm,’ said June, looking unsure.
‘Nice to see you’re looking forward to my cooking,’ Nate smiled. ‘It’s chili, of course. Vegan, just the way you like it.’
‘Vegan chili?’ Isla asked.
‘You’d be surprised what you can do with a little mushroom and alotof spice,’ he said.
It was so nice to see Nate show up to collect his Little like this. June looked delighted. Isla and Billie were off to meet their respective partners too. As she climbed down the treehouse rope ladder, Tammy closed her eyes and imagined what it would be like if Conor and Finn were here to pick her up.
Earlier on, she’d asked June what it was like to have two Daddies.
‘I dunno,’ she’d replied. ‘It’s just kind of… normal, I guess?’
Two Daddies. The idea seemed anythingbutnormal to Tammy.
But the way Finn had spoken to her, it sounded as though he had been suggesting some kind of menage situation. Him, Conor, Tammy. Could it really work? Did the brothers view it as a sexual thing, or as something more long-term? Tammy had no idea whether Conor and Finn were Daddy Doms, either. And they didn’t know for sure that she was a Little.
There were just so many hurdles to jump over.
She screwed her eyes even tighter shut. When she finally opened them, she blinked in disbelief.
