I cozied up to him, throwing my arms around his neck. "I could still use some persuading. If you're offering."

Wynn's hand slid along my sides while our noses brushed against one another. "Oh, pet," he whispered into my mouth. "I'm always offering."

"Hey, come on now," Rayne bumped against us on his way down the stairs. "If we don't have time to screw around you two surely don't."

"I don't know what you mean, brother." Wynn released me but kept an arm around my waist, leading me down the stairs.

"What he means," Drake said, coming up behind us. "Is that you take far too long to get the job done."

I snorted, glancing over my shoulders. "And how is that a bad thing?"

Wynn tightened his grip on my waist. "I believe the lady has answered for me. However, you must praise a woman's body the way you would a goddess. For to treat her as anything less would make you less than worthy of her touch."

Drake smirked at me. "And sometimes a lady just needs a good hard fuck."

Everyone laughed until we hit the foyer where Antoine and Morpheus waited for us.

"Good to see you're all in high spirits seeing as my life is on the line," Morpheus snarled, flashing his fangs at us for having the audacity to dare to laugh in the face of danger.

I stepped away from Wynn and stopped before Morpheus, staring the club owner down. "You Morpheus are lucky to even be breathing..." I paused and smirked. "So, to speak. You are only alive by the grace of Antoine's will and that is all. If I had my way, you'd be strung up by your little parts." I flicked my hand at his crouch with a grimace. "And your guys on the ground while I danced andlaughedon top of them."

To my delight, Morpheus's blanched, his eyes skittering over to Antoine and back to me as if the head of the house would save him in some way.

"That's enough, Piper." Antoine gave me a chastising look even as his lips twitched.

"Sir," Darren interrupted anything I might have said, standing by the intercom. "The car has arrived."

Morpheus didn't have to be told twice. He took the opportunity to put some distance between us and walked out the door, leaving me alone with my guys. Well, most of them.

I frowned and searched the foyer as if they might be hiding somewhere. "Where's Allister and Marcus?"

"Here," Allister said, coming out of the dining room. Looking him over, I noticed a tiny bit of red on the edge of his lips. Moving over to him, I reached up and brushed my thumb against the side of his lips, pulling the liquid away.

"Is that...blood?" I quirked a brow. "Couldn't wait to eat later?"

Allister shrugged a shoulder sheepishly. "Never know when it might be your last meal."

I pressed my hand flat against his face, my gaze softening. "This won't be your last meal, Allister. Not if I have anything to say about it."

He placed his hand on top of mine and squeezed it slightly. "I know. Best to hope for the best and prepare for the worst."

I nodded, dropping my hand but not letting go of his. "Come on. Let's go."

Turning around, I found myself facing the others with a determination in my blood. I would not allow my family - the one I had built and kept through blood and sweat - to fall because of some old as dirt council. They think they could frame Allister and take our money and we'd just roll over and do what they wanted? Then they hadn't been paying attention.

"What about Marcus?"

"Waiting outside," Antoine ushered me toward the door. "We can't keep the council waiting."

"Oh, we can," I responded with a sniff. "I'm just not sure how much good it will do."
