"Why did I do that?" I added on, "I mean, not the part where I stopped. I got that and sorry." I flushed, remembering how hungry I had become. "I mean, why couldn't I stop?" I licked my lips, tasting the remnants of Antoine's blood on my lips. My lower body jerked. Startled, I stumbled back from him, needing some space between us.
"Do not feel alarmed. It is simply a reaction to our bond." Antoine explained, way too calm about it all. "Your body wants to be closer to me. Exchanging blood and other..." he waved a hand in front of him, "...bodily fluids."
I frowned. "I didn't have this reaction before."
"You haven't taken my blood directly from the vein since the binding." Antoine continued stalking toward me. My feet skittered back until I bumped against the counter. "I'm sure if you asked Darren, he would be able to confirm what you are feeling right now."
I swallowed, my mouth dry. "How do you know what I'm feeling?"
With one hand on either side of me, blocking me in, Antoine leaned forward until his nose brushed along my jawline. "I can smell the sultry scent of your desire. The quick upbeat of your pulse. Your thighs pressing together, trying to quell the need my blood has inspired." His chest pressed against me as his mouth hovered over mine. "There is no shame to it."
"I never said I was ashamed." I lifted my face, our lips brushing.
"Good." Antoine closed those few millimeters. His mouth nipped and pulled on mine, tasting himself on my lips before delving into my mouth with his tongue.
Moaning against his mouth, I grabbed a handful of that gorgeous silver hair and pulled him closer, my back arching into him. Antoine cupped my butt, bringing our middles closer together. I rubbed against his hardness, wrapping a leg around his waist to get even closer.
My phone pinged.
Fuck.
"I have to go," I muttered against Antoine's mouth. "They're waiting on me."
"Make them wait." Antoine ground his length into the junction of my thighs, making me gasp and groan. "You worked for me first."
I smiled and kissed him once more before pulling away. "Technically, I'm not your maid anymore, so it doesn't matter. I have to go." I lowered my leg and pushed against him, shifting out from between the counter and his body.
"Just because you do not do the job anymore does not mean you are not still employed by this household." Antoine turned and watched me walk to the door.
Pausing, I turned back to him with narrowed eyes. "Watch it. The hunters pay me for my services as well. I don't need your money. Plus, I have what I got from the house in Seabrick in savings. I could drop all this and live quite comfortably on my own."
Antoine's lips curled on one side. "You would miss us."
"I probably would," I countered. "But thankfully, we don't have to test that now."
"True."
"Exactly. See you."
"Piper."
Shifting back to Antoine with a sigh, I asked, "What? I have to go."
Antoine tossed something through the air. My hand automatically reached out and grabbed it. Opening my palm, I found a small vial of blood. Glancing up at Antoine, I frowned. "Did you already have this ready?"
"Of course," Antoine stated matter of fact. "Be safe."
I closed my mouth, cutting off anything I was going to say. I nodded. "Thanks. I will."
