Her arousal began to build. Raven called out his name, and he hurtled her over the edge, into bliss, and he watched her give in to him.
She was … stunning. So fucking beautiful.
He could gladly watch her all day long, and he wanted that. Carlos needed her to forgive him. To see they had a future together.
Even as her release was sending pulses throughout her body, Carlos surrounded her, kissing her lips, tracing across those plump beauties as he deepened the kiss, and pounding inside her.
His own orgasm was fast approaching. Need consumed him, built to a fever pitch.
As he hurtled over the edge, it was Raven’s name on his lips. Her very essence soothing his soul.
There was no one else.
There was never going to be anyone else.
Chapter Nineteen
“Smokey, you’ve got to come and see this,” Hunter said.
Looking up from his desk, Smokey glanced over at his VP. “Is this important, or some bitch fight between the sluts again?”
“I don’t even know how to describe it, but I have a feeling we’ve got a new prospect,” Hunter said.
Now his curiosity was piqued. He got to his feet and moved to his window. Sure enough, Carlos was in the parking lot. He wore his business suit, but he was … washing the fucking bikes.
After leaving his office, he made his way outside. Several of the men had gathered outside to watch.
“What the fuck are you doing?” Smokey asked.
“What does a guy have to do to become a patched-in member?”
Smokey shook his head. “Not happening.”
“You think I can’t take on the work?”
“You’re wearing a designer suit and washing bikes.”
“So, I like to do shit in style. That doesn’t mean I can’t take every single one of you.”
“I’m not having the Boss of the Santiago line washing my bikes, and he’s certainly not prospecting for me. Not fucking ever. You got that?”
“Raven doesn’t want to leave Fort Clover.”
“Of course, she doesn’t. This is her home.”
“What are you doing?” Carlos asked.
“I’m working, which is what you should be doing. Back home. Where you have real problems.”
“And what are you doing to make things right with Raven?” Carlos asked. “I messed up with her. She is carrying my kid, and I … I need to make this right with her.”
“Raven will … she handles shit her own way. She always has.”
“Is that all you’re going to do? All you’ve got to say?”
“I’m always going to look out for Raven.”
Carlos slammed his fist against Smokey’s face, and in retaliation, he did the same.
Smokey sensed the club had gotten tense as they watched.
“Your idea of looking out for her leaves a lot to be desired,” Carlos said seconds later.
They both were nursing swollen eyes, split lips, and blood spilled from their nose.
“Raven will … she’ll do what she thinks is right.” The truth was, Smokey didn’t have the first fucking clue what to do with Raven. She had always been so strong. So loyal. “You’re not going to be a prospect at my club, Carlos. You and I, this isn’t ever going to work.”
Carlos looked behind him, and Smokey quickly glanced back. Yep, the club was there, watching.
Smokey watched as Carlos glared at him one final time, and then stepped out of the clubhouse parking lot.
“Hanson,” Smokey said, calling out to the young man. “Go and keep an eye on him. Make sure no one tries to fucking kill him.”
“Will do,” Hanson said.
In the past few weeks, Carlos had gotten a little too lazy with his own care. He got it. Carlos spent all of his spare time following Raven. If his enemies or even his capos saw him now, they would all fucking laugh at him for being so damn pussy whipped.
At least Carlos was doing something though.
Smokey had no idea what the hell he was doing, or how to reach Raven. He saw her in town, and she ignored him. She barely spoke to any of the club. Ava had told him that she barely smiled.
Larissa and Jonah had also told him that she seemed withdrawn.
He didn’t have a clue how to make this right.

The morning sickness was in full possession of her body, and not in a good way either. She hated being sick. Raven pressed her head toward the cool porcelain sink and took several deep breaths.
All she’d been able to stomach was dry toast.
The sickness would eventually pass, very soon. It always did. She was able to do her job at the bakery.
She hoped Larissa and Jonah didn’t hear.
Raven was already looking for a new place to live. She couldn’t impose on them any longer. They were good people.
When the sickness finally subsided, she flushed the toilet and stood upright.
Staring at her reflection, for the first time, she didn’t see her vibrant, fun-loving mother. Instead, she saw the woman who’d been dying on her bed.
