I grabbed her wrist and moved it away from me before I stepped away from the wall. “Enough, Cain.”
“Come on, Elias. I know how you work. I know you need some energy to heal. Nobody’s watching.”
I shook my head. “I’ve got stuff to do.”
Cain laughed and stepped in front of me, turning to face me. She had a look of triumph on her face. “You fucked her, didn’t you? ”
“I’m not talking about this with you, Cain.” I sidestepped her and started walking down the hall.
“You let that little whore get inside your head.” She clicked her tongue. “Since when did you get emotionally attacked?”
I stopped walking.
“I struck a nerve,” Cain said.
I turned to look at her. “You stay away from Skylar.”
“I can’t make that promise, you know that,” she said.
“You hurt her and there will be no amount of alliance that will keep me from destroying you,” I said.
Cain grinned. “You can’t touch me here.”
“You want to try me?” I asked.
“I’m the queen’s only blood relative. You’re a disgraced prince with no authority. All I’d have to do is blow the whistle on what you really are.”
“Go ahead,” I said. “Then I won’t have to hold my magic back anymore.”
I turned and walked away without looking back. Cain was going to make everything a lot more complicated.
“When she’s bored with you and you need a tumble, you know where to find me,” Cain called.
