I hopped on one leg, gripping my sore toe against the pain shooting through my foot like bolts of lightning. When I opened the door, the pain in my foot died along with the burst of excitement that had heightened my anticipation.
Instead of Tywin, it was a giant whose imposing presence gave me pause. The height on him, the thick bulk of his body, the long dark beard, and his expressionless blue eyes had me making up stories in my head. He looked like he’d just chopped up a body and stuffed it into his trunk. When a smile crept across his lips, it turned what I thought was a monster, into a big cuddly teddy bear.
“Ms. Davis, my name’s Sam. I’m returning your things,” he said, handing me my purse, clothes, and keys to my car. Spending time with Tywin had made the spa scene appear like it had happened months ago versus the day before.
“Thank you, Sam. I appreciate you returning these.”
Sam kept a grin on his face like he knew I was searching for Tywin.
“If you need anything, please use the burner Tywin gave you.”
I nodded and Sam returned one before he turned and walked away. Although disappointed, I’d known better than to get involved with a Vallin, a member of the syndicate, and a man who had clearly put his intentions out there. But, Lord, help me, I was not sorry and would have taken one night with Tywin over a year with any other man.
Would anyone else ever be able to spark the relentless passion and light a fire in me the way he had?
