“How do you mean?”
“Well, am I being a surrogate with no parental rights at the end? Or are you expecting me to be a parent as well?”
“It’s up to you. I won’t stop you either way.” Tyler shrugged. “Whatever you want, I’ll follow your lead. Obviously, you get a say in what happens during the pregnancy, as it’s your body, but afterwards is up to you.”
“What would you want?”
“If you want to co-parent, I won’t argue with it. I can see you being a good mother, and it would do the child some good to have their mother around.” Tyler hesitated. “However, I won’t hold it against you if you don’t want anything to do with this afterwards.”
That was something, but Kristie didn’t think she could walk away after giving birth. Then again, she didn’t think she could cope co-parenting with Tyler if they weren’t a couple.
Focus on the business, not on the other stuff.
“Okay.” Kristie shifted a little, the throbbing between her legs increasing. “There might be some pushback from the club, though. You know what the director says about relationships between staff and players.”
“And you think we listen to what he says all the time?” Tyler snorted. “If he has a problem, he can take it up with me. What we do, though, is none of his business.” He suddenly sat forward. “Are you starting to have doubts, Kristie? Do you want to back out?”
“What would you say if I wanted to?”
“Then I would let you go.”
“Really.”
“Really. I don’t want to put pressure on you, Kristie. But I would like it if you did carry my child.”
Kristie snorted.
“That sounds like pressure.”
“Trust me, it’s not. I mean it.” Tyler then touched her hand, the first time since she came in. “So, what is it to be, Kristie? Are you going to carry on, or do you want to back out?”
* * *
Tyler almost stopped breathing as he waited for Kristie to answer him. He hated waiting like this, but he couldn’t rush her. Even though she had texted him yes earlier, there were still some doubts. He couldn’t blame her for that; it was a big thing to do.
But he wanted her to say yes. He needed her to say she would do it. Tyler couldn’t see himself doing this with anyone else. When he had been thinking about asking someone to carry his child, Kristie had been the first person who immediately came to mind. He couldn’t think of anyone else. It had to be Kristie.
You know, this could happen easily if you actually dated her like a normal person.
She doesn’t deserve a guy who can’t commit emotionally in her life. She deserves better.
“I’m doing this.”
Tyler thought he had misheard.
“You serious?”
“I said I would, didn’t I? I don’t back out of things like this.” Kristie took a deep breath. “But I do have one concession to this, though.”
“Anything.”
There was a moment of hesitation, and Tyler saw the nerves flicker past her eyes. Then Kristie lifted her chin.
“The conception happens naturally. I’m not about to sit there while a doctor implants me. Natural conception, or I’m out.”
That Tyler hadn’t been expecting. He had been planning on that, anyway, but hearing Kristie say that was what she wanted just stirred his arousal even more. The sight of her in that gorgeous dress that showed off her nice curves, her hair loose about her shoulders - something he had never seen before - had him almost grabbing her and pushing her against the door to get his hands on her. How he had kept his hands to himself, for the most part, he had no idea. Right now, his cock was hardening at the thought of being inside Kristie.
He couldn’t deny that part of him. He wanted her. And watching her come apart just made for a beautiful image in his mind.
