Making me want him even more.
“You can take my room tonight.” He opens the bedroom door to a comfortable-looking room that’s painted gray. The king-size bed has blue sheets, and I just want to jump on it to see if it’s as soft as it looks. “I’ll sleep in the guest room.”
Momentarily, I snap out of it. “I can sleep in the guest room. I don’t want to steal your bed.”
“It’s not stealing if I offer it to you.” He grabs a few belongings from the dresser. “Besides, this room is more comfortable.”
It strikes me as weird, but I’m not going to argue with him. Not when he’s been amazing so far. Confusing as hell but amazing.
“Thank you,” I whisper as he’s on his way to the door. “Thank you for everything.”
“You have nothing to thank me for. It’s just a matter of being fair.” He pauses, then looks back at me over his shoulder. The intensity in his gaze pins me to the spot and steals the breath out of my lungs.
The primal look in his eyes sets me to stone. “When the time comes for me to collect, I’m going to be sure you want me.”
He’s out the door, closing it with a soft click before I can catch my breath and tell him I already want him. That he’s the only man I’ve ever wanted.
