After our confrontation at my dorm, Ed moved me out of there and into his apartment within a few days. He was insistent that his child not consume dorm food, even though I protested that the cafeteria’s actually very healthy. So now, I spend my days bustling about our apartment cooking, doing some light housework, and of course, watching my favorite rom-coms. Then, Ed comes upstairs when it’s dinner time and we enjoy a meal that I’ve prepared before repairing to the bedroom for sexy times.
A couple friends have asked about my schoolwork, but the truth is that I’ve decided to take a leave of absence from Coleman University because as much as I enjoy learning, it’s just too much when I’m as big as a whale. Even walking to class can be cumbersome when you’ve got a belly like a basketball and stiff, swollen ankles. As a result, I’m taking some time off, but I fully intend to go back after my baby’s born and after I have some time to enjoy being a mama. But for now, I’m excited to stay home and just rest.
At that moment, the front door opens and Ed strolls in, his arms full of groceries.
“Let me help!” I say, jumping from the couch as quickly as I can, which is pretty slow given my giant belly.
He shakes his head.
“Nope. Sweetheart, you’re in your third trimester so there’s no way I’m letting you carry groceries. I’ve got it covered.”
I kiss him, still pouting, and go back to my spot on the sofa while he starts putting the groceries away.
“Have you thought any more about calling your mom?” Ed calls from the kitchen.
I sigh.
“No. What Nanette did was treacherous, not to mention disingenuous. I mean, am I really such a bad daughter that she’d actively try to break us up? No, I don’t talk to her and I don’t want to either.”
Ed nods.
“Yes, she’s a little unhinged but she’s still your mom and might like to have some interaction with her grandchild.”
I shake my head, frowning. “Well maybe I’ll send her a birth announcement once our child is born. She’s going to flip when she finds out she’s a grandmother because I’m sure it’s her worst nightmare. I mean, she wants to stay young forever, but when there’s a child calling you ‘Granny,’ it kind of puts a point on things, right?”
Ed chuckles. “Yeah, it’s going to be a shock for sure.”
As my incredible boyfriend begins to prepare dinner, I continue to watch my rom-com. But inside, my heart warms because this man pampers me head to toe, and I love every second of it. But then I call over my shoulder, “You know, it’s good that I moved out of my single when I did because they actually gave my old room to a girl who really needed it. Coleman doesn’t have enough housing, and I guess there was kind of an emergency.”
My boyfriend’s forehead wrinkles as he boils some pasta.
“Really? What emergency?”
I lower my voice confidentially, even though there’s no one to overhear. “Well, I heard there’s a girl who went home during Christmas and did one of those photo-with-Santa things.”
Ed pauses.
“Wouldn’t a college student be a little old for that? I thought posing with Santa for a Christmas portrait was for little kids.”
I nod.
“Yeah, right? But evidently, this girl Cleo did more than just pose. I heard she sat on Santa’s lap and let him put his you-know-what into her while she was sitting there! Like she backed that pussy up onto his cock. OMG, isn’t it crazy?”
Ed pauses, his handsome face filled with disbelief.
“You must be shitting me.”
“I swear I’m not,” I say, shaking my head. “But yeah, somehow it happened and word got out, so she was being shunned by everyone at school. The other girls in her suite were making her life miserable, so the housing office transferred her to my old single so that she could get some peace and quiet. It’s insane, right?”
My boyfriend merely shakes his head while setting out the pasta and salad.
“Goddamn, college girls these days are batshit crazy. But in a good way,” he adds quickly before bending to give me a kiss. “In a very good way.”
I giggle.
“Hey, watch your mouth because I used to be a college girl not so long ago!”
My boyfriend grins as we sit down at the table.
“And you will be again soon,” he growls possessively, looking over my pregnant form. “After the baby’s born, of course you’ll go back and get your degree.”
I nod, so happy to have Ed’s support, and I’m ravenous too, so I immediately dive into the pasta.
“Mmm, this is amazing,” I murmur while stuffing my face like a starving bear. “Delicious.”
Then, there’s the sound of someone clearing their throat at my side, and I startle. When I glance to my left, Ed’s there, kneeling by my chair.
