Kaige looked down at Trent, who was still hunched on the ground. Blood flowed down from his nose onto his T-shirt. The other guys stumbled off.
Wylder spit on the ground next to Trent in disgust and then looked up at me again, his face twitching. With surprise, I realized he was trying not to smile. He actually looked impressed for a change.
“That was fuckinghot,” Kaige said. “Don’t mess with Mercy.” The gleam in his eyes made my stomach wobble in a way I wasn’t sure was totally wise.
I cleared my throat. “I’ll let you guys clean up,” I said, and spun toward the car.
Kaige caught my arm before I made it two steps. “I think I need a little more inspiration first.”
Before I could ask what he meant, he slid his fingers along my jaw and tugged me into a kiss.
The press of his firm lips sent a flare of heat through my entire body. I clutched his shirt instinctively, my mouth already moving against his, urging him on.
Kaige’s tongue teased over the seam of my lips and slipped into my mouth. Fuck, he was good at this. It was definitely unwise. It was a horrible idea. But I couldn’t bring myself to shove him away.
Kaige started to ease back, and I yanked myself away too, my cheeks flushing. His sly smile made me wish we hadn’t stopped. “Wow,” he murmured.
Yeah, that about summed it up. Hell. That definitely hadn’t been part ofmyplan at all.
