“So, you get it. I’ve always told myself that when the time came, if we needed to expand, it would be me at the helm. That I wouldn’t let anyone else run my firm or organize it in ways that aren’t mine.”
“I can see that. It’s your baby. I don’t blame you. The world’s a small place today, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t universal laws we should all live by. There’s so much corruption potential that without some controls, we could lose our humanity. Kind of like what’s happening here in Rhodes at the house where they held Stasia.”
“That’s right. It’s why I started my business in the first place. In the military, we were always restricted by tradition and the stages of command. By the time we could get to the top brass for permission to go ahead, most of the time it would be too late. I decided there were too many instances where a small covert team of top military-styled veterans could really make a difference. That’s how we started. Marc was my first recruit and then the others followed. Soon, I had so many people wanting work and willing to be placedanywherethey were needed, that the jobs came pouring in. Now, I see we’ve grown too fast. I need to back us the hell off and regroup. But I never seem to get the time.”
“Stop the whirlwind and make the time.”
He took her face in his hands and looked deep into her eyes. “Now I have a reason to make it happen. Nothing has ever been a strong enough incentive to keep me in one place… until now.” His lips found hers willing and ready. They kissed for a long time until the sighs became pants and desire became an ache filled with need.
They made their way to the cottage and entered through the side door that led directly into Sophia’s room. There he took his time to undress her while kissing every inch of skin he revealed. She stood there, allowing him the freedom of her body, knowing no other had ever had her at such a disadvantage. She never did believe there was a feminine role to play to a man’s masculinity… until now.
She’d taken from earlier partners as much as she allowed them to take. But, Sam was different. Her body knew him, thrilled for him… burned for him. And there lay the difference.
His hands traveled everywhere they wanted until she finally realized he was as much hers for the taking as the other way around. That’s when she stumbled on the fact that he liked to be petted and stroked. Her mouth on him drove him insane, and her power over the warrior knew no bounds. Like putty in her hands, he allowed herto seethe sway she held. And so, she gave back the same.
Lying together on the silky sheets, he entered her and there was no hesitation, only desire so strong that their bodies reached a pinnacle neither had ever experienced.
That’s when he called her name, achingly, sweetly, filled with such tenderness that it brought tears to her eyes. Her answer came softly.
“I’m here, my Sam. I’m here.”
