His appreciative smile as he eased the zipper of her jeans down made her feel as if she was the most cherished woman on earth. “Tell me what you’re feeling.”

“Warm and—” She paused as she searched for the right word to describe how she felt. “—restless. And my knees feel weak.”

Instead of taking her jeans and panties off, he surprised her when he stepped back to unbuckle his belt. As she watched him unfasten his jeans, then slide them and his boxer briefs down his long, muscular legs, she realized he was taking the rest of his clothes off first in order to make her feel a bit more comfortable. An unfamiliar tightness spread through her chest at his thoughtful consideration.

When he kicked the rest of the garments toward the growing pile of their clothing, her heart stopped then took off beating double time. His body wasn’t merely beautiful, it was magnificent.

As she appreciated his taut physique, her gaze traveled from his impossibly wide shoulders down his washboard abdomen and beyond. But her heart stalled and her eyes widened at the sight of his arousal and the heaviness below. Although she didn’t have any experience and couldn’t make an accurate comparison, she sensed that Lane wasn’t a small man.

Her concern must have been apparent, because he closed the distance between them. He took her into his arms, kissing her tenderly. “We’ll fit together just fine, babe.”

Most of the time, she took exception to men calling her anything but her name. She felt it was insincere and condescending. When Lane used the endearment, though, it was genuine and made her feel as if she was truly special to him.

But she abandoned all speculation when he ran his hands along her sides, then beneath the waistbands of her jeans and panties. Capturing her eyes with his, he slowly caressed her hips and thighs as he slipped the denim and lace down her legs to her feet. When she stepped out of them, he straightened and stood back, caressing her with his heated gaze.

“You’re...perfect,” he said, taking her into his arms.

The feel of having all barriers between them removed, the excitement of skin against skin, caused every nerve in her body to tingle to life. Gasping from the intense desire coursing through her, Taylor wrapped her arms around Lane’s waist to keep from melting into a puddle.

“Let’s lie down,” he said, kissing her collarbone.

When he pulled back the covers, she got into bed and marveled at how sensual the black satin sheets felt against her bare skin. It seemed to heighten the anticipation of what they were about to do. As she watched Lane remove a foil packet from the bedside table and tuck it under his pillow, she shivered from the wave of desire that swept through her.

“We’re going to go slow,” he said, stretching out on the bed beside her. Reaching to draw her to him, he sealed their lips in a kiss so poignant that it stole her breath. “And I’m going to try to make this as easy for you as I can, babe. But I’m afraid our lovemaking tonight won’t be as pleasant for you as it will be the next time we make love.”

“I know it can’t be helped,” she said truthfully. “But I also know you’ll do everything you can to ease the discomfort.”

Even though she’d had her doubts about him in the beginning, she knew it was true. The realization might have disturbed her if she’d had the time to think about it, but Lane was too busy creating a need in her like no other.

“You have no idea how much your trust means to me,” he said, his eyes darkening to a deep coffee-brown.

Lowering his head, he kissed his way from the pulse at the base of her throat to the valley between her breasts and Taylor lost the ability to think. At the moment, she was too caught up in the way Lane was making her feel.

As he nipped and teased his way down her abdomen to her navel, the exquisite fluttering in the most feminine part of her transformed into the empty ache of desire and she knew for certain it was one only Lane could satisfy. But when he slid his palm over her hip, then down her thigh and back up to touch her intimately, she felt as if she would burn to a cinder.

“P-please...Lane.”

“Does that feel good, Taylor?” he asked, rising up on one elbow to stare down at her.

“Y-yes...but it’s making...me crazy,” she said, grasping the sheet on either side of her.

“Do you want me to stop?” He kissed her and held her close as he continued his gentle stroking.

“N-no...I need...”

Her voice trailed off as she felt waves of pleasure begin to course through her. Moaning, she moved restlessly against him as the delicious sensations spread to every part of her being then slowly released her from the tension, allowing her to float back to reality.
