“What’s the worst thing you’ve ever done?”

Her lips tipped into a smug, smarmy smile, like she actually knew the answer. Since Nate was the only one who knew and he was dead, it was impossible.

“Too many to count.”

Trevor slung his arm around my shoulders. “I find it hard to believe you’ve ever done anything bad.”

“Oh, Trevor, you have no idea. I was an absolute monster in high school.” I faced down my newly appointed nemesis. I was just drunk enough to name the first thing that popped into my mind. “I’d say it was leaking a girl’s half-naked pics that I stole from my friend’s phone. That was pretty shitty.”

The girl’s mouth turned down in dismay. “That’s awful. Why’d you do that?”

I shrugged. “I was a bored teenager who thought I was a lot more clever than I was.” Leaning forward, I grabbed one of the shots of tequila lining the coffee table and tossed it back. “Who’s next?”

I turned my head to pick the next victim, and my eyes caught on Lachlan standing just outside the group, his thick arms crossed as he leaned a shoulder against a wall. No doubt he’d heard what I said. At least now he had a legitimate reason for looking down on me.

I took another shot. A few more, and Lachlan Kelly’s face would be so fuzzy, I’d forget he existed.

Trevor took off his shirt and swung it in a circle over his head while gyrating his hips. He did this while standing in front of me, his knees pressed against mine.

His dare had been to strip for me. It was a good thing he was in college. If he took up stripping for a living, his clientele would be severely disappointed at his concave chest.

“Truth or dare, beautiful,” he slurred, falling down beside me.

I’d lost track of the shots I’d thrown back, but I knew I’d had three really strong drinks. Or maybe it was four. I never slurred, no matter how toasted I got.

“Dare.”

He tucked in his chin and wagged his eyebrows. “Hmmm…what am I going to do with you? Should I have some fun or be nice?”

I shrugged. “Do your worst, bucko.”

His brows went wild again. Medium Girl probably dug that move. To me, it looked like he had a pair of deranged caterpillars attached to his head.

His grin went crooked. A few guys jeered at him, yelling for him to dare me to streak or skinny dip. One even suggested a blow job. Trevor paused on that suggestion, but in the end, he shouted out his own very clever idea.

“Take off your bra.”

Oh, balls.

Well, a dare was a dare. I’d never back down from one. But after this, I was out. Hopefully Helen and Theo were ready to go because this party had grown stale.

My feet only wobbled slightly as I stood. Yeah, I probably shouldn’t have had that last shot. I raised my head, findinghimstill watching. His massive shoulders were tight, a bull poised to charge. Why was he watching if he hated me so much?

If he wanted to watch, I’d put on a show for him. One foot at a time, I climbed onto the coffee table. I swayed, listing sideways, but found my center and raised my hands over my head to celebrate.

Lock shook his head while everyone else cheered for me.

Averting my eyes, I reached behind me. My fingers fumbled to tug down my dress and find the clasp of my bra. Finally snagging it, my next task was to get it unhooked.

I squeezed my eyes to concentrate. That was why I didn’t see him coming. I really should have been paying attention.

Then again, how could I have predicted Lachlan Kelly would scoop me up and haul me out of the party over his shoulder?
