He shot her a sharp look. “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing.”
Reaching out, he grasped hold of her chin. “No lies, Maeve. Only truths.”
“Only truths, huh?” she said quietly. “Why don’t you say what you want to say?”
He studied her. “And what’s that?”
“That you’ve had enough of me. One fuck and done, huh?”
“Shut up, Maeve.” Leaning in, he kissed her hard and fast. When he drew back, she was breathing quickly.
“Was that a goodbye kiss or . . .?”
“It was a ‘stop Maeve from saying stupid shit’ kiss.”
“Right. Okay. That’s an interesting sort of kiss.”
He shot her another look.
“And Maeve is shutting up now.”
“Come on, I’m walking you up. And don’t argue.”
She gasped dramatically. “I wouldn’t dare argue with you.”
“And stop lying.”
Okay, it might be the time to really shut up now.
“Soooo,” she said when they reached her door.
He turned her suddenly, pressing her against the door and kissing the hell out of her. “I’ll text you. Get inside.”
She stared at him, then nodded stupidly before moving inside.
Damn. Those kisses just sucked the brains out of her.
A knock startled her and she squealed. “What is it?”
“Lock the damn door, Maeve.”
Oh. Right.
Lock the damn door, Maeve.
Not I’ll miss you. I’ll text you. I really liked fucking you.
Just, lock the damn door.
After locking the door, she smiled.
And she had no idea why. Other than the fact that she was losing her mind.

Maeve walked toward her door, carrying a bag of groceries. She’d just sent her latest batch of creations off to their new owners so she figured she’d treat herself.
