“I suppose that’s true. Never really had that issue.”
Fuck, she was funny. “Makes it easier to sleep too.”
“All right, all right, I get it. Sometimes you want a limp dick.” Humor twinkled in her gaze. “But not now.”
“No, not right now. You sure about this? You can do no strings attached? No hard feelings?”
He didn’t want to hurt her. Physically or emotionally.
“I can. Can you?” she challenged. “I mean, you’re so sure I’ll get attached to you when maybe you’ll get attached to me.”
“No room in my life for a relationship, girl.” But maybe if there was, he could see himself with someone like her . . . sweet but with some sass.
However, his life had a lot of danger and challenges. She deserved someone softer, who could give her more stability.
“Me neither.”
“Good. Then we’re in agreement. This is just sex. Nothing more. As soon as one of us wants to end it, we can.”
“Yep.”
“And you’ll say if I do something to scare you,” he reiterated. He didn’t like the idea of frightening her, and he knew he could be rough and aggressive.
“I will,” she said firmly. “And you’ll do the same.”
“Girl, the day you ever manage to scare or harm me, will be the day the devil comes for my soul.”
“Devil, huh? So no heaven for you?”
“I don’t deserve it. But I’ll settle for getting to lick every inch of your skin instead.”
“You sweet talker you.”
He’d never been a sweet talker. Christ, he didn’t even usually like talking beyond what was required.
Maybe he felt protective over her because he’d saved her.
Or perhaps because she wasn’t a sub who had club monitors to ensure her safety.
“I’m going to kiss you now, girl. At any stage, you can say no and I’ll pull back. Got me?”
“Got you, hot stuff. Now shut up and kiss me.”
“Hot stuff?” he grumbled. “That’s not happening.”
“No? You don’t think you’re hot stuff?”
Instead of answering her, he decided on the perfect way to shut her up. Placing his hand behind her head, he held her still as he kissed her.
Oh.Wow.
Gray was kissing her. Finally. And she couldn’t do much except try to keep up with him. He moved his tongue along her lips and she parted them to give him access.
The man could move his tongue. The air rushed from her lungs and she clung to him, holding on as best she could as he ravaged her.
More. She needed more.
The kiss made her head spin and she tried to press herself against him. She didn’t like the distance between them. For some reason, he seemed to think she was delicate. That a rough touch might make her shatter.
