Gray:Maeve, what’s wrong?

Maeve:Nothing, sorry. Just busy with work.

Gray:Right. See you tomorrow night.

Maeve:Good. Bye!

She groanedand pulled her legs up to her chest. What was she going to do?

Wait. He was coming over tomorrow night? But her period wouldn’t be over by then.

“Maeve, you don’t have your period. What you do have is some weird sort of stalker. What are you going to do?”

Okay, she needed to chill out and think. It wasn’t exactly a threat, right? Except she knew it really was. Because a normal person wouldn’t send flowers and a note like that, right?

They’d just approach her.

Unless they were shy. Perhaps that was it. Maybe it was that guy downstairs, who spent all his time gaming and never remembered to shower.

Except, he didn’t know she was alive. Even though she’d brought him some cookies when she’d first started living here. He’d just opened the door, snatched the cookies out of her hand, then shut the door. All without looking at her.

Sometimes people could be so rude.

Perhaps it was time to leave. She’d been here for two months now. Sure, she quite liked it and she’d been considering staying longer. But if some creepo was watching her . . .

But she didn’t want to.

The idea of leaving Gray made her feel ill.

Perhaps she just needed somewhere else to live

Right. That made her feel better. She’d move.

Finally, she managed to find the courage to leave the shower and tidy up. Everything would be fine. She could stick around and be safe. It wasn’t like this person had said they’d hurt her.

Yep, she’d be just fine.

Gray damn near had a bounce in his step as he moved up to the door of Maeve’s building. It was late, so the front door was locked. He hit her name to get her to buzz him in.

Maeve had been acting a bit odd during their text conversations. But what did he know? He didn’t like to text anyway. Maybe she was the same. Or perhaps she was just stressed with work or her period.

You probably should have checked up on her before now, asshole.

He didn’t know when her period would end. But he didn’t care anyway. He just wanted to see her.

He didn’t give a damn if he couldn’t fuck her.

Shit. He closed his eyes, taking a deep breath. He really didn’t care if he couldn’t fuck her.

Because he wanted her for more than just sex. Oh, the hints had been there. The way he felt lighter. The smiling. The whistling.

Fucking hell.

It was sickening.

He was losing his mind.
