“No, that’s definitely below poor Slater’s pay grade,” she insisted. “Besides, I fed him before I left for our date, so he should be good.”

“I thought that we weren’t calling this a date,” he reminded.

“Shit,” she said. “Sorry, force of habit. This is the first time that I haven’t dated someone that I’ve had sex with. I usually don’t do casual hook-ups. I guess this will be a learning curve for me.” She hated sounding so blasé about it all when her body felt anything but. She wanted Knox with everything she had and telling him that she just wanted casual sex, in order to save her job, might not have been her finest hour.

“How will Slater get back to your place?” she asked.

“Uber,” Knox said.

“That wasn’t necessary,” Beck insisted. “I could have driven myself over to your place. How will I get home in the morning?” she asked.

“I’ll drive you,” Knox said.

“I don’t mind taking an Uber,” she offered.

Knox reached across the center console and took her hand into his own. She wanted to sigh at the sweet gesture, but that wouldn’t sound very casual of her. “I said, I’ll drive you,” he repeated.

“Thank you,” she breathed. “I’d appreciate that, Knox.”

“Do you mind if we make a short pit stop?” he asked. “I need to stop by my club.”

“Your club?” she asked. “Do you also own a nightclub?”

Knox chuckled, “No,” he said. “My motorcycle club. I don’t know how much Trinity has told you about Ace and me, but we are a part of an MC in a group called the Smokey Bandits. Ace was the club’s Prez until things with Trinity heated up. He couldn’t do it all, so he stepped down from being in charge of the club. We still like to go to meetings and tonight, they’re inducting a few new members in. I’d just like to stop by and congratulate them. You up for a quick drink before we head to my place?”

Beck wasn’t sure if she felt relieved or upset that they weren’t heading straight to his place. “A drink sounds perfect,” she said. It would give her a chance to unwind and calm down a little before they jumped into whatever this was going on between them.

“Thanks,” he said. “I appreciate you being so understanding about this.”

“It’s not a big deal,” she said. “If I’m being completely honest, I’m a little nervous about tonight.” Knox pulled into the parking lot of what looked like a dive bar and she wondered what she had just agreed to. He parked his SUV and reached across her body to unbuckle her seat belt.

“Come here, Beck,” he ordered.

“Wh—what?” she stuttered.

“I said, come here,” he demanded. She hesitated and when she looked into his eyes and saw that he wasn’t going to back down, she climbed over the console and onto his lap, straddling him in her black cocktail dress. He hiked her tight skirt up to her thighs, exposing the lacy black panties that she wore underneath.

“Good girl,” he praised. What was it about Knox’s praise that had her heart racing? Or, maybe it was feeling his erection jutting up into her parted legs. He ran his fingers over the lacy panties and she hissed out her breath. It felt so good to have him touching her that way.

“I like these,” he whispered into her ear. Knox kissed a path down her neck, causing her to shiver and when he got to her lips, there was nothing gentle about his kiss. Knox consumed her and she couldn’t help but shamelessly rub herself against his hand that was still exploring her wet folds through her panties.

“Knox,” she breathed against his lips. “I need you.”

“In due time,” he promised. “Let’s have that drink now.”

“Wait—what?” she asked when he pulled his hands free from exploring her and tugged down her skirt. “Why did you make me crawl onto your lap if you weren’t going to finish what you started?” she challenged.

He opened his driver’s side door and she practically tumbled out of the car and onto the ground. He caught her, pulling her into his arms. “I plan on more than finishing what we started once we get to my place. Are you still feeling nervous?” he whispered into her ear. She was feeling a whole lot of things right at the moment—hot, horny as hell, and frustrated, but nervous wasn’t one of them.

“No,” she said.

“Then, mission accomplished,” he teased. Her little frustrated growl echoed through the parking lot and Knox chuckled. He put her down, making sure that she was stable to stand. She watched as he tugged off his jacket and tossed it into the back seat of the SUV. He rolled up the sleeves of his crisp, white dress shirt, showing off his full sleeves of tattoos that she had only caught a sneak glimpse of. God, he was hot. Beck wondered what he looked like naked and if he had any other tattoos he was hiding under his clothes.

“I like the way that you watch me, Beck,” he dipped his head to whispered into her ear. He knew exactly what he was doing to her and Beck was sure that she’d self-combust before they even got to his place. She was so ready to go off, one touch from him would send her completely over the edge.

Knox smiled down at her and pressed her back up against the SUV. “I promise that this won’t take long,” he whispered against her lips. He gave her a quick, hard kiss and then released her. Beck bit back her frustrated groan this time, and he grabbed her hand, tugging her along behind him.

“I think you’re a tease,” she grumbled.
