“Me too.” Tavish kissed each of them.
“That’s precious, now sit your asses down and put your seatbelts on until I tell you you’re clear to go to the bedroom and take your turn tearing up the mattress.” Aven got serious when she was ready to fly.
Nolan roared with laughter while Konstantin simply stared at them all like he’d entered an alternate universe. She figured that for him, it sort of was. Hell, it was for her too.
Aven tried not to let her envy sneak through her overwhelming happiness for her friends, but during the long hours on their way home, it was hard not to wonder if it would ever be her turn. She cleared her mind of everything but gauges and lights and a panoramic view of the world passing below.
But even the amber glow of one of her controls reminded her of staring into Levin’s golden eyes before he charged down the plane stairs to do what he had to in order to set things to rights. She could respect his decision, even if she was afraid it would end badly.
How would it feel if a man like him had that kind of fierce dedication to her?
She desperately wanted to find out.
Someday.
Aven couldn’t help but imagine Levin getting smaller and smaller in the distance, unsure of why that thought unsettled her so much. So she concentrated on doing what she’d promised him—swooping through the night at hundreds of miles per hour to deliver his most precious cargo to the safety of Shields until he could reclaim his man.
At least she’d get to see him again when he did.
