One step—or fuck—at a time, he promised himself.
Nolan clamped his hands around Jace’s trim waist, anchoring himself so he could drive deeper and harder through the tight ring of muscle hugging him. When Jace groaned and shuddered, he knew he’d hit the right spot.
Laurel beamed up at him. “He loves that, Nolan. Do it again. He’s so hard inside me, and when you fuck into him, he does it to me. Damn.”
Her eyelids fluttered as she tried to keep them open while pleasure bombarded her. She and Jace made out, their hands flying over each other and sometimes what they could reach of him. It didn’t take too long before Laurel’s eyes widened and her stare locked on his.
“I’m close.”
“Me too.” Jace groaned as if he’d been hanging onto the edge for a while already.
Nolan was right there with them. He pumped into Jace, slapping the side of his flank as he really got going. Laurel gasped and Jace clenched around Nolan, dooming them all. They flew past the point of no return.
This time they came together. Nolan flooded Jace’s ass, triggering the other man’s climax. He overflowed Laurel’s pussy with his release, pumping into her until she shouted and tossed her head from side to side. While Nolan couldn’t feel her contractions wringing him dry, she inspired aftershocks in Jace that made his ass clench on Nolan, transferring her rapture to him.
He came so hard, he was pretty sure he’d almost turned his balls inside out.
The only thing that could have been better would have been to be the center of their universe, the man in the middle.
Still, he wasn’t greedy, and he was thrilled they’d shared this much of their lives and their obvious love for each other with him. Laurel kissed Jace and reached up to put her hand on Nolan’s shoulder, petting him as he remembered how to breathe.
He’d be forever grateful that he’d found them, and that by doing so, they’d found him.
Now he had to keep them alive long enough that he could tell them so when it wouldn’t be a massive distraction and risk getting them killed.

Jace chewed his index fingernail until the iron tang of blood washed over his tongue. What the hell were they doing?
“They’re two minutes out.” James’s voice rang through the earpieces the entire team wore. “Remember, everyone: Laurel and Jace are a diversion. We only need them to get us an opening and then we’ll take that bastard out however possible.”
“He picked this place on purpose, that’s for sure,” Aarav grumbled over the comms. “It’s surrounded by trees. I have a very limited window to pick him off, and I’m guessing he’s aware of that.”
“I’m sure he is.” Laurel sighed. It seemed like she was resigned to things going to hell, same as Jace. It was the only way he could see this ending.
Someone was going to get hurt. Or worse. He only hoped it was Draven and not one of the people Jace had come to think of as family. He peeked into the side mirror through the dark-tinted window of the SUV Laurel was driving. There was no longer anyone right behind them.
Sola and Nolan had peeled off a while back, circling around on a parallel road and getting into place in the woods with Kennedy and Marcus, Ransom and Levi, and a couple pairs of fresh recruits he’d barely glanced at during the briefings. He’d been too busy staring at Laurel and Nolan, terrified that it would be the last time he had the luxury.
Every instinct he possessed screamed this was a horrible idea, but it was the only way they’d put an end to their nightmares for good and truly be free. Besides, Cherri was there, still in Draven’s clutches. They had to try to get her out too. She deserved a shot at a life beyond hell, one as amazing as his and Laurel’s and Nolan’s had been these past several weeks.
“We’re in place.” Nolan’s mission-voice bore no resemblance to the friendly, lighthearted timbre Jace knew so well. Soldier Nolan was a stranger to him. Cold, focused, and lethal. Right now, that made him feel the tiniest bit better.
“All set here too,” Marcus confirmed.
“Same, boss. Ready to roll.” That kid sounded like he was barely old enough to see an R-rated movie, never mind be hunting criminal masterminds. He sure did seem excited about it though.
Jordan came on. “Remember, Teddy, you’re mostly eyes and ears. Don’t engage. Stay back and watch out for any incomings behind the teams on the ground unless I specifically tell you and your partner otherwise.”
“Yes, sir.” He sounded like he might have been pouting, though he didn’t argue.
“For the record, I still hate this.” Jace couldn’t help but get one last word in, though there was no way Laurel would change course now. Honestly, she was right and—as usual—braver than him to recognize it.
“Me too,” Nolan grumbled.
“Take it easy,” James coached. “Get out there and keep him talking until we can figure out an angle. Before you know it, you’ll be back in bed with Nolan and my sister and you’ll never have to worry about this again.”
It was the part in between exiting the car and being at home in his lovers’ arms that was freaking Jace out, but he nodded to no one anyway.
