“We need to be on alert. Backlash is coming,” Grim warned. “Until we have enough Intel, no one rides alone.” He immediately looked in my direction and I held up my hands.

“Fine,” I agreed.

“Good. Now, Bodie, what you got?”

“Nothing much,” he answered with a grin. “Just wanted to make it official that Sasha is my ol’ lady. She’s got a cut that I presented her with, but,” he paused, and I swear the fucker blushed, “I asked her to marry me. She said yes,” he added in a hurry as we all let loose with loud whoops of congratulations and hollering.

My brothers were slapping him on the back and offering heartfelt words of support along with lewd jokes.

Mammoth brought him in for an awkward hug and then slapped his cheek. “You knocked her up, huh?”

The room exploded in laughter.

“That ain’t the reason I’m marrying her,” Bodie argued, sinking into his chair. “I love Sasha.”

“I’m sure you do,” Grim announced with mirth, “and now you’re gonna be a daddy.”

“Fuck,” he whispered, slightly pale. “I’m never gonna survive this.”

“Didn’t anyone ever tell you to keep it wrapped up, son?” Hannibal shook his head. “At least pull the fuck out if you aren’t sure you want a kid.”

Mammoth could hardly rein in his humor. Several others couldn’t stop laughing either.

“I didn’t know I did,” Bodie admitted, shrugging, “until Sasha said she was pregnant.”

I had to smile at that admission. Never thought I’d see Bodie settled down after what happened to Suraya, but he fell hard for her twin sister Sasha and he was happy. We could all see it.

“We’re all happy for you, brother.” His gaze met mine. “I mean it.”

“Here, here.”

My fellow Bastards banged their fists on the table in agreement.

“Any other club business?”

When no one else said a word, Grim sent us on our way. I was the last one to leave. He knew I was worried about him and I wasn’t the only one. Mammoth and Bodie shared that burden.

“I’m good, Rael.”

Liar. “You can’t bullshit a pro,” I announced, leaning against the wall as I lit up a smoke. “No foolin’ me.”

Grim’s smile was thin. He was stressed. “Ain’t heard from Trish.”

Didn’t expect him to open up so I sat down, putting up my feet on a nearby chair. “Thought you said your goodbyes.”

“We did.”

“Didn’t think it was permanent?”

“Something like that.”

“She’s fierce,” I reminded him. “And fuckin’ stubborn. She’ll come around. Always does.”

Grim nodded, not the least bit convinced.

“You need me to find her?”

“No.” He rubbed the back of his neck, staring across the room before he turned back my way. “I know where she is, at least where she went after she left Tonopah.”
